From: "Philip Lee" Date: Mon, 13 Nov 2000 17:39:21 -0000 Subject: [ILF] Britfest 2000 thank you from Phil Dear All, I was going to send this email yesterday but I was so tired out from the Saturday evening I fell asleep at my computer desk last night and woke up at 3am in the morning! Anyway I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank those people who helped me out. I did manage to make a small improvised speech at the end thanking people but I am afraid I neglected to mention everyone so here goes:- Thank you Lisa Devlin for your design work on the web site. I know it hasn't been easy to do this as you changed jobs last week and I was well impressed when you were stuck down in Devon and you managed to use a friends PC to update the web site. Thanks to Lisa Harding for designing and printing Tickets, Flyers and Posters. I was also very impressed at the Beer labels you did, and all this was done in the last 3 days! Thanks to the guys who helped on the door Lisa H, Lisa D. Colin, Marcus and Mark and Linda, I feel particularly embarrassed about this, I had volunteered to help out and I did not. The event totally steam rollered over me and I was over whelmed with what had to be done. There was simply too much to do for one man, especially when I was supposed to play drums in the band and the other drummer couldn't make it at the last moment. Thanks to those that helped set up for the Auction and to Richard & Carol Smith and their mate Tracey for assisting me during the Auction. BTW Happy Birthday Richard 40 on Monday, just 2 more years until the big one! Richard has been a great support to me over the last few weeks, as he has been for the last two Britfests. Thanks also to Richard for bringing the video projector gear. Next the band, I think it had to be or best Jam session yet. I believe this was down to the guys wanting to put on a good show. I was particularly conscious of this as Level 43 were not going to turn up. Andy Smith needs to be mention as he had been practising the entire week before hand and undoubtedly held the whole thing together on the keys. Some nice Guitar work & Vocals from Will O'Shea, thanks for the arrangements as well, glad you could turn up as Boon was busy that day ;-) Nick "Blondy" Smith, man of many basses, slaptastic as per usual, that bass synth thingy was totally wacky, I am sorry I was very rude you about your singing, but at least I didn't mention the hair (until now) ;-) Russ nice to meet you, great playing and what a great voice. Morgan great playing, sorry I didn't get a chance to chat to you more than I did. Doug, thanks for playing the Sax, you were excellent. Mikey, yo thanks for the vocals. Trying to think who else came up on stage, oh yes Lisa H & Tony B? , I am sure there were more I was just a bit too busy behind the kit. If any of you Bassists fancy a Jam sometime count me in! Thanks to everyone who donated stuff to the auction, the list of donors was on the email I sent out yesterday... And of course to Mark, Mike, Boon, Jakko and Gary. Glynn Willett, thanks for being there early and helping out. I am looking forward to seeing some of the pictures. Did you manage to get a piccie of the Mark King Photograph ? We could do with one of those for auctioning them off. Somebody else was taking pictures or was it a video camera, I can't remember who ? Mark and Linda Beardsley, thanks for distributing the flyers the week before, it was all done at very short notice, I was very impressed with your enthusiasm. Also for your assistance during the day. Once again I apologies for the general state of chaos during the day, we did run about 20 minutes late in the end and it wouldn't have happened as smoothly as it did had not people taken the initiative and volunteered to help me out at the last minute. Thank you all for turning up and spending your money. I hope most of you got one or two goodies to take home. If not we still have those Mark framed prints up for grabs and I am sure one or two more items will appear in time as well. I hope I have mention everyone, I certainly would hate to offend anybody by forgetting to mention their name or role. Thanks to everyone so far who came and thanked me for organising the event. I will say due to a technical difficulty I have been unable to read my email for the last 4 days so if people have emailed me I may not be able to reply until Tuesday. The days write up will follow soon plus hopefully a scan of the article the local paper ran... Phil
