Unless there are passes that I'm not familiar with, it looks like it's around $250-300 for an 8-day britrail pass. If the cost of the tickets from our last trip are any indication (i.e. I think we paid at most around 35 pounds for return tickets between London and Bath and Portsmouth), than individual tix will be far less expensive. I'm flying into Heathrow, but will probably then take the tube or coach to London to drop off my stuff and check in to my hotel, then meet you all at your hotel (this is the plan, right?) and catch the train to Leicester buying a single return ticket for the journey. The only other BritRail trip will involve a return ticket from London to Wolverhampton. Even if each of those journeys were outrageously priced at 100 pounds each, that would still be about the cost of the Britrail pass (and I bet the tickets are far cheaper than that). Anyway, if your travel agent finds passes for less, be sure and let us all know. On the other hand, is anyone planning on buying a tube pass? I did that last trip and it probably cost a bit more, but the convenience was wonderful. I just don't know that we'll be using the tube much this time 'round.
