From: Bilal42 @ aol.com Date: Wed, 30 Dec 1998 21:01:03 EST Subject: [ILF] Important - Tourfest - L42 stuff Hi gang Tour attendees, please sign up on the ILF list!!! Ok friends. Please state your intentions for the tourfest now. Sunday, 31st Jan, 13:00ish. I'm open to ideas, I suggest a bit of a 'social' - without instruments. Singing will be mandatory! All of you! We will take some group shots (thats photos, please leave your guns at home this time). With a band playing, you guys will not be able to talk to eachother very well. Thats just my opinion, I'm open to your input (no bullets). Venue - please speak up now or forever hold your peace (again, I dont mean your gun). If we are doing the drinks and meal thing, then thats easy, we need to know numbers and preferred cuisine - Chinese (how apt), Indian, Italian or junk food (pizza etc). We could book a bunch of tables at the Pizza Hut opposite Macaris in London (where Mark used to work) - arf arf arf! Please respond immediately! If we prefer a function room, then a Londoner will have to book one, I have little knowledge of the area!!! (Ich bin ein Midlander). If you want we can put together a Level 42 quiz/contest - what do you say? We could compete in teams; you get the idea. Finally, I insist that when we meet, we should all do that thing the Red Indians do in the Cowboy movies... cut our wrists and exchange blood, kind of helps us bond, know what I mean?!!! I've looked at a lot of minibus hire charges, Richards' seemed the best, prices are hideous round here (and the service is POOR!!!). By the way, I'd really like it if we could show Mark our support collectively somehow, we all wish him the best, any ideas??? We can all at least chant the same thing!!! (What do folk chant these days, is it 'yow yow, yow yow yow or 'go Ricki, go Ricki' or 'Jerreee, Jerreee, Jerreee'??? Oooops, I must give up cable TV... IMPORTANT: As of this Friday evening, I'm afraid I will not be able to spend any further time on this until Jan 23rd (my last exam). I hope you will have all responded by tomorrow evening, so we can make bookings on Friday evening. Anything after that, somebody else will have to step in as I'm afraid I have a full work load (I'm convinced my corporation and software vendor is in on the ILF list and have decided to make everything happen at once!!!). If you see me as happy as a bee at the gigs, its because Jan 23rd will be the day I will be liberated from the workload!!! OneMan will be heard all over Nottingham that day! In the mean time, feel free to mail me. also - sorry, I have no spare tickets left now - I have an unclaimed spare copy of the EXCELLENT One Man album (Sealed) - mail me if you want it - I also have some Bitter Moon CDs (I love that song) which some folks asked for then never contacted me with their addresses!!! - happy new year to all! also Something about You was on Virgin the other day, as well as Lesson in Love (its #120 in their all time top 500 - well done) Bilal http://members.aol.com/bilal42 PS. did any of you guys see Lenny Henry at the last Level 42 gig in 1994? PPS. although Swimming in the Sky is my current fave, I've rediscovered 'Theme to Margaret' , 'I want eyes' and (the list goes on), anyone else like these? PPPS. I've been copying Rockpalast vids for some new fans; while watching 'Mr Pink' and 'TPOA', I couldn't help thinking that Mark and Phil, they were awesome together! (Mike and Boon were ace as well by the way). And while I'm rambling... 'Pamela', the bass sounds so cool on that, its an under rated track I think, coz it sounds great. love you all Bilal
