From: Daniel James Subject: Re: [ILF] URGENT: AIRFARE Date: Wed, 16 Jun 1999 09:25:04 -0700 (PDT) > Dallas-London Gatwick US$477.00 > New Orleans-London Gatwick US$501.84 > LAX-London Heathrow US$590.10 > Seattle-London Heathrow/Gatwick US$686.10 Thanks for that Mikey. I've actually found some slightly cheaper fare via Travelocity. Seattle to Heathrow runs about $650 on BA or $665 on United. As for cancellations and penalties, I know that United only charges $75 for changes, and while the tickets aren't refundable, you can use the full value of an unused ticket towards another flight. This is a bit of a better deal I think than a $150 cancellation fee (but then I'm always flying somewhere on United so it's not a big deal for them to hold my money). Of course, these fares were departing Friday and returning the following Saturday. Normally a Saturday night stayover gets you the cheap seats, but I just tried leaving Monday, returning Saturday afternoon and found even cheaper seats ($625 BA/$635 UAL). Just for grins I checked DFW and Travelocity was showing a fare about $110 higher than what you quoted into both 'eafrow and Gatwick... Also, if you're able to travel on British Air, you should know that they're offering a two-for-one deal right now. If you book by the end of this month, you can travel this summer and get a free round-trip ticket back to London for travel after October. I'm really hoping to make it over sometime this summer, so I may end up doing that. Now then, I've still got to book my flight to Dallas this summer for the heatstroke-fest... See you all in September!
