Subject: [ILF] Holiday in NY

It seems like my wife and I will be in and around NY a few days in
August (9-17th). Can any of you "natives" recommend where to stay, where
to eat and what to see? We'll probably start going around NY state for a
few days to, among other things, visit the family I stayed with in Penn
Yan, NY when I was an exchange student back in '84-85. But the last four
days or so will be spent in NYC. My wife will attend a seminar in
Microbiology in Cold Spring Harbour, NY after I go home. My job
situation doesn't allow me to stay longer, so...

If any of you would like to meet for a drink while we are in town then
we're game!

I have a feeling that that time of year is "peek tourist season" in NY,
is that true?

p.s. the dollar rate against the Swedish Krona is ridiculous right now,
it hasn't been this high in decades. I'll have to consult Mikey42, I
guess...
