Is this about that stupid movie? Sigh.... All right, in the interest of warning those who haven't plunked down their money yet.... I certainly agree that the Jedi swordplay scenes are awesome and worth seeing twice - if it had been 2 hours of that, I would have been satisfied. Jedi in their prime are badass m*therf*ckers! I also enjoyed the racks of battle droids...good stuff. What made me heave was the 1.5 hours wasted on telling the story of the little boy (who was played by a really lousy kid actor). It was like a nightmare episode of "Family Affair" with Jody building robots and pod-racers while Cissy parades around in Kubuki costumes, and Uncle Bill (Qui-gon Jinn) and Mr. French (Obi-wan Kenobi) go fencing with their weird friends. Where was Buffy? Silly, she's off slaying vampires in her own series! Jar-jar Binx is another reason to heave. I hate CG characters to begin with, and this one is no better than the space-monkey in Lost in Space! The quality of writing for Phantom Menace is about the same as an average episode of "Walker: Texas Ranger". See it, but wait 'til it moves to the dollar theater (so you won't feel so ripped off). Face it, Lucas owns 100% of the merchandizing rights to Star Wars. He's not an artist anymore, he's in the toy business. Is it surprising that he would make the prequels stictly for little kids? Peace (and may the force be with you!) - Z.
