Viva la off topic content. I troll this digest for
references to bands I might not discover otherwise -
thanks to those who share their musical discoveries!

Re: that, what's in your car CD player or iPod right
now? Or 8 track or 78 rpm? What's the latest discovery
you are grooving on?

I've got Mavis Staples 2005 album "We'll Never Turn
Back" - some great reworking of some civil rights
movement songs - very funky and treated by Ry Cooder
in a "Buena Vista Social Club" intimacy. Neat!

ok then,
-Tom

Lolita thanks for the reply, and it somehow odd that you would talk
about memories of one of your trips to the UK as I am now reading
great stories from around mid November '04 of people's memories of
trips, especially the IOW fest and meeting Mark King. That would have
been a great trip in and of itself and I swear that one of the days
in one of the upcoming decades that I am gonna take a trip that way.
But, I digress.

I love the reports of digesters meeting and trying to figure out if
those people over there are people that ought to know or just
strangers. That and all the varied things, like the train trip on the
IOW, retrieving boxes of T Shirts from a hotel room and walking it
across Hyde Park and all the various and sundry sights and
experiences everyone had....makes we almost think I was there too.

Speaking of people on the digest, I am sitting here typing away in my
Matt Rice inspired Level 42 Digest T shirt. As usual, whenever I
decide to wear it my wife rolls her eyes, but on occasion I will pull
it out and wear it to work....and boy they both fit great, still! I
think the last time I wrote about the shirt Matt actually had a
couple left, but I bet he doesn't anymore.

I am looking forward to hearing the Jaco Big Band CDs and will post
my reviews when I have given them a good listen. I have been cycling
CDs through the car CD player and the latest I've listened to is BNH
Brother Sister and a couple of Incognito. Since I know several of the
digesters have plenty of BNG, which other of their CDs do you recommend?

Also, I was on the Amazon website searching futilely for
Conversations with Silence, when it suddenly occurred to me to check
on the Amazon UK website and what do you know? I am now awaiting
delivery of that and the 11 song version of Retroglide.

Is there a digest CD that is the same as the Ohne Filter DVD which I
had never heard of (the digest CD project) supposedly called Mark
King in Concert? If there is, whom do I need to gently cajole to
obtain one? Or beg....if it comes to that.

Since I have been asking about the whereabouts of past digesters, I
guess I will ask if Jennifer Norwood is still about? Jen are you out there?

I forgot in the previous post to mention that if there was a church
service in my area that had jazz as its theme, there'd be no way I
would ever miss a church service, but that's probably just short of
blasphemy, so I will stop there.

Hey Andrew, did you get my Email?

Doug......working OT on a saturday.....and boy is it quiet!

Well I have finally made it to 2005, and having slogged through a
long discussion about whether the digest would be active if MK was
not on the 'knackered old hits' tour year after year, we finally got
through it and made it to 2005.

I've got about 640 message left to read and boy I don't know what
I'll do when I get caught up.....anybody have any suggestions?

Heh heh heh....never mind.

Oh, before I forget, Happy Birthday to Lolita....a milestone
reached....let us know how it feels when you get there.

Doug

Sorry gang....too much time on my hands on a Saturday night at work....

I've been pondering a question for a little bit and now with a posting I see from Mark Woodhouse on the 18th Jan '05, regarding Gary Husband's Force Majeur. It got me wondering again if there is any recorded music from Force Majeur?  If so, what do I look for?

That's all (this time) for now
