Have been listening to The Running Gag's CD he sent me and I have to
say that PPF's music while not that commercial was really enjoyable.
But I can see why he went on to Da Lata. The ability to make money is
always a nice thing to do.

Well, Mike did know Andy Lafone and Liliana Chachian (who was singing with Da Lata at that moment) allready since they've worked together at some Negrocan gigs. Liliana and Mike did some evening Drumschool lessons together as well, and there was a good click between Mike and Chris Franck of Da Lata as well.

Nowaday's Da Lata is a bit of a break now, and Chris and Mike are in a new band, calles Zeep! together with Nina Miranda who was singing with Da Lata as well, and some others, collaborating amongst others with Michael Mondesir as well... (yep, from the Mondesir Bro's)

Small update about that, and now i'm off to bed, it's allmost noon ;)

Doug,

random thoughts from your postings ...

S Club 7 may be good to look at, but don't hold your breath about the sound.

Conversations with Silence - you could have had my copy. It made no sense to me ...

Zero 7 - love them, especially Simple Things and When it Falls. Saw them live and didn't enjoy it though. Loud, brash and most unlike .. er .. Zero 7.

Unsure how many of these people made it in the US but check out Tears for Fears, Style Council, Incognito, Sade and Seal - all stuff that other Level 42 'fans' have mentioned in the past. They've all created some absolute gems.

If you want a taster of the above, contact me and i'll knock something up and send.

regards

Fred

From Doug's musing's yesterday….

>>I think Zero 7 was what I was supposed to remember and not S Club 7.
>>Well, I hope S Club 7 is worthwhile listening....anybody know?
Brilliant……S Club 7 & and Zero 7…about as chalk and cheese as  ' Level 42 '  and  ' Re-arrangement of KOH's to sound different on tour to that of the studio version '

>>I also have to say I really enjoy Mike's singing voice.

>>Poof....I am gone
Oh blimey,  not the old  ' Is Mike gay ? '  thread again ….

On a serious note though, I'm realising that Doug will soon have caught up with his backlog of unread digests. If it hadn't been for his infectious postings the last few months the digest would have been pretty quiet. You can't beat a bit of digest nostalgia….. 3 cheers for Doug…hip hip…..

Yes, Uncle Gordon done good. XXL is a terrific album,
not least for the Take 6 collaborations (It's All
Right With Me is awesome) but I think Swingin' For The
Fences is even better.

12, 11, 6 and 4 at the moment.

> Ahhh, NOW I understand all the comments about the
jewel case, as the 10 song version's jewel case is
your normal run of the mill one. This one is
interesting to say the least and I can imagine some
frustrated person breaking the darn thing trying to
get it open...

Funny you should say that, because I finally got hold
of a copy today and the back jewel case is indeed
cracked (through carelessness rather that frustration
I imagine). Which is a bit annoying because it's not
easily replaceable like a conventional CD.

Silence' so now I will get to experience whether the
people who raved about the music are correct or
whether the good AG was correct in calling it less
than brilliant.

I've never heard Conversations With Silence, apart
from one track someone sent me, so I'd be surprised if
I offered any opinion on it. I remember sacrilegiously
saying that the universally adored Changes was
mediocre, perhaps you're thinking of that.

> Also, to answer Michael's question from the other
day.....yup, I have run into my previous posts and the
thing I do notice is that I type just like I talk, I
am one of those people who subvocalize as I type and
how many words I miss putting into my posts and/or how
many grammatical errors I make....I am kinda surprised
that my good friend AG hasn't pointed that out before,
but perhaps he goes easier on the unwashed masses from
across the pond.

Actually, as I have pointed out several times in the
past, one of the more surprising discoveries I made
upon joining the Digest was that the general standard
of English spelling and grammar is better from the
average American than it is from the average
Englishman. Even more shamefully, it's generally
better from the average Dutchman as well. Just as with
all the sports we invented, we give to the world and
the world wipes the floor with us.

> I've also ordered what seems to be the S Club 7's
self titled album from 2000 ... I've discovered that
my memory played tricks on me ... I think Zero 7 was
what I was supposed to remember and not S Club 7.

Splutter! Woo hoo ha ha! I haven't laughed this much
at an episode of the Digest since the golden days of
Bill Burnett. It's probably just a joke, but for a
couple of minutes there I took it at face value as a
genuine mix-up. Please let it be that though, it will
be priceless.

AG

PS Anybody over there going to see Stevie Wonder in concert?
