OK, I'm curious. Someone want to tell me what the
"Alembic thing" is all about?

Hi Joost,

Although I have not a single clue regarding Mark's
amps and all that, I do totally agree with you on the
Alembic thing. It's a bloody shame he doesn't use them
anymore.

Bass regards,

Hi everybody,

Is there anybody how knows the exact setup of Mark's
Rack? I know he uses a TC Electronic G-Major and a
2290 and two Ashdown MK-500's, but does anybody know
in what way he uses them and how he switches from one
to the other sound/preset?

To bad he doesn't use the Alembics anymore on
stage...... (by the way)

Joost Peters

Dude, postpone or reschedule. Weekends away can be had
anytime. You'll spend the rest of your life kicking
yourself if you miss those shows.

music - and then we are away for the weekend! <<

My guess would be simply space reasons, plus the fact
that B-sides/otherwise unavailable tracks are needed
in order to sell CD singles. It also might not have
"fit" anywhere on the album inasmuch as you want all
the songs from beginning to end to have a certain
'flow' to them.

Just a guess, mind you.

>>Yesterday on the train home I was listening to All
She Wants and I wondered why this song, which is among
the best of the Guaranteed era if you ask me, was not
included on the album. It could easily have been a
single too, having more hit or radio potential than
for instance Overtime...
Does anyone know this? <<

Would someone who's knowledgeable in such matters
please go and correct the Level 42 history section on
Wikipedia? Passages like this:

>>Both Phil and Boon left the group: Phil suffered
from nervous exhaustion and reportedly was not
satisfied with the band's direction in terms of its
newer "pop" sound. He even went as far as to call it
"shallow pop music, which I'd had as much fun playing
as when I played in holiday camps". Boon likewise
suffered from stomach problems and decided to retire
in order to settle down with his wife and children. As
a result, Stayton Heyward And Neil Collins did not
appear on the next album Staring at the Sun as for
Heyward he only played bass on one song 'Heaven In My
Hands'. King recruited Gary Husband and Steve Topping
to replace them. Husband recommended Topping, but he
did not work out due to personality differences with
King. <<

and this:

>>In December 1990, the band played a record run at
Hammersmith Odeon, London which had been booked almost
two years before. These concerts featured Lyndon
Connah on keyboards and vocals, and Allan Holdsworth
on guitar. In this year, Mike Lindup also released his
debut solo album, Changes. <<

are both grammatically poor and factually incorrect.
It bothers me that the two musicians mentioned
(Stayton Heyward And Neil Collins) were referred to
for the first time in that paragraph, but yet it reeds
like their names had been mentioned earlier and the
reader should know who they are. I'm also *fairly*
sure that Lyndon didn't tour with the band in 1990
during the Hammersmith run. What was it- 10 nights in
a row, all sold out?

I leave this all in the hands of the experts. :-)

No idea, but it wouldn't surprise me. Note how they
cleverly (and only slightly) disguised 'Jack Schitt'
in the title track.
