I heard this on our local radio and thought the same, but if I recall
some fellow digesters thought otherwise.
it is one of my favourite LFT song and it was nice to hear a different (good) version.

Thanks for the link for the remake. It was cool hearing it sung in a contemporary setting. Definately prefer the original but enjoyed his interpretation!

Although Anthony David's might be considered a well thought out and romantic treatment, the fact that the guy or the backing singers hardly ever sang the end of the words quite ruined it for me. You might not have noticed this knowing the words. To me, Soul is not about lazy singing just because you have a nice sounding voice.
 
Most musicians know that the public hear what they think they are hearing. Unless the words are really changed, (like Mark's "show your tits to me" in Love Games) they don't notice. Of course, what it actually demonstrates is that Mike and Mark are far better singers than they usually get credit for being.
