| > I thought this was a LEVEL 42 digest???? And there's been *loads* of discussions about Level 42 lately. I prefer to see this as a digest of people who love Level 42. If it weren't for this list, I'd never have discovered such other greats as Incognito (and all of the various spinoff projects like Like of the World, Inner Shade, Citrus Sun, and Maysa's solo albums) as well as countless other fantastic groups and compilation albums that I can't even begin to list. Feel free to skip over anything you don't want to read if you don't want to see discussions of music other than Level 42, but I think you'll be missing out. Speaking of off-topic, I just got back last night from seeing India.Arie (for the third time since she first toured with Sade). Anyone who hasn't seen her is missing out on seeing one *hell* of a performer. I could've done without the opening band, Leroy Bell, who was mediocre at best (take Hootie and the Blowfish [which I never liked in the first place] and John Mayer, stick them in a blender, and you'll get the idea). Each time I see India.Arie though, she just rips it up. She is great at interacting with the audience, and her music live is really powerful. If you get a chance, don't miss seeing her. I'm glad that Seattle occasionally gets good music, and this year has been a treat. First The Brand New Heavies, and now India. |
