We've all tried to put him behind us. For some it's

Andrew, I am going to go to this website and see if I can help out my fellow digesters in need....that mean old Old Brian.

Hee hee.....good one AG

Yes, yet another of the endless slaggings you give me.
All I ever get from you is abuse, abuse, abuse.

Ahhh....but you KNOW you like it.....and as bad as I am....the Friesen character is a much better abuser and much more creative than I am....alas.

And that's my entry for the 2007 Winston Walker Lame
Comedy Award.

I was drinking water when I read that...it resulted in a magnificent spit take....grossed out some of my coworkers, but it was well worth the cleaning up of the computer keyboard, desk and screen. Hey Win....do I have entry as well? Snicker

I keep telling you Friesen, twice a night is as much
as you can expect from a man of my age.

Liar Liar...pants on fire.....I've heard for you it is down to twice a month....if she's REALLY lucky....or can't run fast enough.
================================

Sorry for being so quiet the last week or so. The cold finally got the best of me and I stayed home until today and thus wasn't up to being my usual witty (?) self.

While I was out of the office, I received The Word is Out by the Jaco Pastorius Big Band and Marshall Chapman's It's About Time. I am giddy with anticipation, I can barely contain myself. Ok, that's a stretch, but I am highly anticipatory.

That's about it for now....

Brian's postings regarding Drum and Bugle Corps reminds me of a
couple of things. When I lived in Fremont, that's the South East SF
Bay Area for the non cognoscenti, the local high school had a big
time Drum and Bugle Corps and were always practicing out on the
fields of the high school in the summer. We lived close enough that
you could hear the instructions clearly over the bull horn.

My wife was in the band in high school and played alto sax...try as I
might I can't get her to play the instrument (no naughty comments
from me, nope). She's got two saxes and I think is hoping our
daughter will become interested in playing.

My grandfather taught piano at the Eastman School of Music, in
Rochester, NY...those of you who know what that means will be
suitably impressed, but that was before my time.

My dad played the trumpet, the trombone and the stand up bass and I
also remember that we had an old fashioned pipe organ in our house
when I was a little kid and I gotta tell you that was the COOLEST
thing to play around on. But, alas, he doesn't play anymore. All that
noise and the foot pumps pushing air through the bellows, man it was so cool.

My mom played bassoon and cymbals in the band, but doesn't anymore.

Me....I can't carry a tune and man, I can play a really mean
recorder. Hopefully Audrey, the kidlet, will have more musical talent
than I do....if nothing else at least genetically she'll earn it.

Well, I am sure I've bored the heck out of you.....

That's it for me.

I am slogging my way through old digests once more.....I am now at
3/3/05...and oh look, there's bashing of The Chinese Way. How quaint.

I don't get the hatred for the song...and yeah I know Lolita DETESTS
it severely, but I don't have strong feelings about the song either
way so I guess I don't get the whole 'ewwww, its 'TCW, ewwwww' rampage.

Oh and Steve....the dance partner that looks like Boon Gould was
pretty funny.....I am looking forward to seeing if you ever get a
dance with her.

Oh my....what a terrific CD.

I have always been a closet big band person....Toshiko Akiyoshi
anyone?...so this was right up my alley. I didn't know what to
expect, but my gosh, this just knocks me socks off. Just
imagine....Randy Brecker soloing on trumpet, Toots Thielemanns
blowing his fanny off on the harmonica (swoon), Hiram Bullock AND
Victor Wooten soloing in the same song (Beaver Patrol) on Guitar and
Bass.....Beaver Patrol kicks some major bootay in my humble opinion.
Also another favorite of my Mike Stern solos on several songs. Jimmy
Haslip has a solo too....gosh I could just go on, this CD is just awesome.

The music is stupendous, you can tell they've put a lot of care into
the production and the music is top notch. Lolita if you've heard
both CDs and you think that the Word of Mouth CD is better....oh
my....I am in for a treat.

I especially love Los Olas, Sirabhorn, Beaver Patrol, Kuru / Speak
Like A Child and Good Morning Anya....but it is really hard to choose.

Before this I listened to Miami Deeper Lounge 3 - Deep Touch
Extravagant Mix, a REAL change of pace and really enjoyed it. I don't
know if anyone has an opinion on SFP Records or Deep Touch
Productions but I gotta say I really enjoyed the CD and it sure made
for an upbeat night.

Well I have typed enough for one day. I can't wait to get in the car
and go home in about 30 minutes....gonna be some good listening music
in the car for sure!

I'm off tomorrow (Friday) so y'all have a terrific weekend.

Doug
