I am plodding along in my mind altered state, my cold has moved out of my
chest and into my sinuses and I am truly miserable. At any rate I've been
reading along and been tempted to post about stuff, but after getting
messages rejected due to a problem on eric's end....I gave up. Otherwise
I would have had a huge (rademaker, hee hee) post. So, I am currently in the Mid May '04 digests and Lolita posted her interesting article about the New York Republican Club. My my, she is just full of surprises and I mean that in a good sense. I think it is always interesting learning about fellow member of the digest, especially someone who is well rounded as Lolita is. I think most people who've been on the digest any length of time already know of my admiration for her. However people might want to quibble with the words she may used in the interview, to accuse her of the things that jt did was beyond the pale. I've had some discussion regarding jt with another digest member as I doubt that mr traci is still on the digest. It has appeared to me that jt was bitter over something in his past and had to take it out on practically everyone on the digest, even his so called compadre AG. Of course Lolita came back with a well reasoned reply, I doubt I could have been so calm responding to someone if I had had the same experience that Lolita has had. jt of course could not let it go as he seems to be the the champion of having the last word. I really enjoyed Dan James well thought out post regarding it all, good job Dan! Mark Daniels made so cogent points, but I would ask him and others who bitch about OT topics...if we talk only about Level 42 then we might go days or weeks without anything interesting to say. That said, I would much rather read about music of all kinds, interesting projects that other members are involved in, and other subjects that people feel other digest members might find interesting. In fact, for me, the reason I stayed subscribed was because of the all interesting topics that people feel passionate about, granted you might say that I am way behind the times and couldn't be bothered to read for months and years at a time, but I never unsubscribed and I never threw away digests sent to me before I've read them. That may make me a little odd, but I can live with that. I really enjoyed AG's posting including his subtle remark about jt being the crown prince of controversy, although I would amend that to clown prince, but that's just me. AG really got to the heart of matter, distilled it down and made strong cogent points....something that should come as no surprise. Good job Andrew. So, I have two questions related to the digest....Is Mike Payne a member still, I haven't noticed a recent post from his, so I wondered about that. Speaking of old (in terms of the digest) members, is Loz still a member? I don't recall a post of his recently either. He did not give up on all of us, did he? I seem to be acquiring music at a prodigious rate lately, I am awaiting delivery of more new stuff (to me), including Jaco Pastorius Big Band - The Word is Out and Jaco Pastorius Big Band - Word of Mouth Revisited. I also ordered a Gary Husband CD where he's playing live in a Jazz Club in Los Angeles, but in my muddy headed sickness at the moment I can't remember what the name of the CD is. When I think of it, I may actually tell you what is. Ok, back to reading..... |
