Level 42 Digest for Monday, March 27, 2006
>If he plays Running in the Family/Lessons In Love/Something About You "megmix" in that order at >the end I will hang myself!!!!

Jules, it's precisely that scenario that's stopped me from buying any tickets for any show so far.  Even spreading the love through the set would be better than hearing the same-old "this is what they want" medley again.  I don't think i can do it.

There's no need for anyone to point out that it's Joe Public who wants/needs to hear these tracks played live.  I know all the arguements.

Before i decide whether to buy tickets or not i think i'm going to wait til i've either a) heard Retroglide, or b) seen a setlist posted on the web digest from the first couple of gigs on the tour, that way i can buy tickets for the Oxford gig if it looks like it's worth parting with my hard-earned.  Again.

Yes, I plan to go to the Nottingham show - and also will hang myself if I hear that Something About You megamix [although I'm sure they are going to do it :-(].

I would love to hear The Machine Stops live - that song has a monster bassline [especially toward the end] that doesn't really come through because the recording is so trebly.  When I first heard World Machine live with Mark storming through the bassline with such clarity I fantasized about hearing Machine Stops.  It will likely never happen but who knows - we got True Believers a few years back and I had given up on that one...

So can anyone tell me where I can buy some bootlegs
from??? :)

If any of you have ever seen the series "Little
Britain", one of you guys is reminding me of the
character Daffyd:

"I'm the only true Level 42 fan in the village".

I won't say which, but I'll bet his ego won't allow
him to keep quiet.

THE DIGEST ROCKS - I'M LOVING IT

Good Grief!

Ok, now I know I need to get all caught up....I went on a 1 week
hiatus and its lasted a lot longer than that. But, I've been perusing
the incoming digests with interest. However, this oddity with Mike(y)
and Winston has caught me by surprise.

Granted I've never met anyone else on the digest and thus don't
really know any of the history that may have gone on behind the
scenes between anyone of y'all out there, but in any group of 1000 or
more people (in the old days) or even now with 450 + people there is
bound to be people who don't like each other, people who misconstrue
what other people do or say, etc. So, since I don't know what the
history is here all I can do is stand by and mutter to myself.....Oh
Shut UP. Harumph.

Actually I don't know that you necessarily need to shut the you know
what up about all this....but how about taking it to email and then
you can snipe and talk crap all you want.

I have good things to say about both characters in this word play.
Mikey has also seemed to be pleasant to me and while we've never done
a deal together, I feel confident that he would treat me mostly
fairly. Winston, whom I have done business with, has always treated
me fairly, been patient with me when I know I was asking stupid
questions, and I've always come away after a deal with Winston, heck
to be honest with everyone...EVERY single person I've ever contacted
has been a straight shooter with me. How cool is that?

So, all this stuff is just personal and getting the last word in
won't make you the winner.

Sorry I haven't been around, but I was a tad burned out and needed to
look at something else for awhile. Paul H I will send you some email.

Ta for now....

Doug

Gang,

Whew....been reading the digests from the 9/11 period and it brings
up thoughts I haven't had recently. The raw emotion from people is so
palpable its chilling. Then reading Lolita's matter of fact reprise
of her 'adventure' in the escaping from the World Trade Center is so
matter of fact and seemingly unemotional that you can see the emotion
in the calmness. I know that makes no sense, but I think you know what I mean.

That plus the countdown to the end of the digest and the reactions of
members to that.....lots of agony.

AG of course had some really cogent, succinct and utterly funny
comments about the end of digest. He made some really valid points
that I probably would have agreed wholeheartedly with if I had been
around, but which still ring true today:

'For my part, I've had a bunch of laughs and learned a lot and its
been a blast, and I thank Eric Hansen for giving me that opportunity.
This is why I'm not in favour of an old vs new vote. As far as I'm
concerned the Digest belongs to Eric and if he wants to make the
change then that's all there is to it.'

He's right, we may think this is 'our' place, but we reside her at
the pleasure of Mr Hansen and so long as he's at the least
indifferent to the digest and not actively opposed to its existence
then we are home free....the day that changes.....well, that will
indeed be a sad day.

Put that in your hat the next time you feel like bashing some one of
your fellow comrades.

Hello All!

It's been along time since I've posted here, but nice to see you all.  I'm picking up the new Fagan and Prince CD's to listen to on my flight tomorrow. I'm hoping that SD does a tour later on this year.

I'm going to the London gig-can't wait to go. It's my first trip across the pond, and I'm very excited! The two songs I hope to hear are Romance and Eyes Waterfalling...I doubt it though.  I hope I'm not asking questions that have been asked before but I have two main ones:

1. Is there a gathering or something scheduled for any of the gigs?

2. If I remember correctly, someone on here is a travel agent. If so, can you email me?

Keep it Level!
Andrea Smith
