Many thanks to my American brethren who responded to
the Take 6 plea a couple of days ago. Apparently the
track in question can only be played online as a
streaming feed, or some other technobabble which means
little to a child of the Walkman age. But I truly
appreciate you taking the time to find out and let me
know.

Ah, you underestimate the goodwill of this august list
of 467 almost completely non-contributory funketeers.
I had no less than FIVE responses, which with a swift
sum I estimate to be roughly FIVE more than people
normally get when they ask something. I can only put
this down to either:

a) the natural instinct of Americans to respond when
called upon as a nation
b) my own personal charisma
c) the chance to laugh at someone not being able to
access something you can.

Pick whichever makes you feel best.

> 1) The Rhapsody site needed me to download an
"Active X Control"-based player - I avoid Active X
control stuff because I read once somewhere that it's
a gateway to virus wormy computer hell.

I avoid it because it sounds like something created by
Lex Luthor to enable world domination.

> 2) Although Take 6 can be impressive, Brian McKnight
sucks.

Absolutely. And yet, as I'm sure you know, his own
brother is in Take 6. What a mysterious world it is. I
must get Ernst van der Hee to investigate now he has
so much spare time on his hands.

This is a frustrating new low for Take 6, a band which
seems hell-bent (joke intended) on putting all their
best work in the least accessible places. (This in
addition to a few years ago performing at St Paul's
Cathedral - St Paul's Cathedral! - on the same day as
the only person who would ever ask me to be his best
man chose to get married.) Not content with just
squirrelling their most sublime stuff away on
soundtracks and as guests on other people's albums,
they've now recorded a version of one of only two
songs which always bring a tear to my eye (God only
knows what the other one is - oh now I remember, it's
'God Only Knows' by The Beach Boys) and put it
somewhere I will never, ever hear it.

It appears the only solution will be for me to become
a resident of the US. It had better be worth it.

Right, back to, er, whatever it is people call it.
Lurking, is that it?

AG

PS Top 5 Take 6 tracks not on their own albums. Just
because I'm bored and felt like it:

Ridin' The Rails (with KD Lang, from the album Dick
Tracy)
Straighten Up And Fly Right (with Nnenna Freelon, from
the album Soulcall)
It's All Right With Me (with Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat
Band, from the album XXL)
Revelation (with The Yellowjackets, from the album
Live Wires)
I'm Always Chasing Rainbows (from the album Glengarry
Glen Ross)

>>2) Although Take 6 can be impressive, Brian McKnight
sucks. Like Michael Bolton. I can't in good conscience
condone such rot by helping you.

Wow!

One thing I have learned so far in life is not to disregard anyone's
talent until I can see it for myself. Therefore, I won't attached a suck
label to Micheal Bolton and I can definitely confirm that Brian McKnight
does NOT suck.

I was fortunate to A2 a gig of his last year (Kiss FM concert at KBF)
and he and his band were fantastic live. His songs are well written,
arranged and played with great feeling. It was a funky good time (with
a few sloppy ballads thrown in).

His visual media support tech sucked though, he couldn't operate the
camera or the Snoop Dogg video sync playback.

Saying like it is....
