Handsome Rugged Man is by far my fave Level 42 song, but to the best of my
knowledge, it was never performed live. That would be the holy grail,
for someone
to produce some lost gig where it was performed. I have an email from
Phil somewhere,
and he mentioned this song as one of the fave things he did while in the
band.

Ok folks, i'm sorry for keeping the flames going on this 'little'
disagreement lately, but
i couldnt help myself. I didnt much have a problem with the
'philisophical' side of the
argument. I said one thing, the other party mistook it as something
else...but i have
a real problem hanging back while another party spreads blatant lies
about me.

On another note, anyone enjoying the new ToTo album, or the new Donald Fagen
solo release? The Toto is in heavy rotation on my Ipod, but i cant
really get into the
Fagen just yet. Might need a few more listens to grow on me, but it
really sounds
much too similar to all his previous releases for my tastes. It really
sounds like he
grabbed some recorded but unused songs from his previous solo effort, and
put them on cd.

What do you folks think? I know we have some Toto and Fagen fans here.

tcoy,

Win

Woaaaaah! Careful bud, you have to tread cautiously on the digest, just in
case the "Mike Lindup is not Gay Junta" (whom I will now refer to as MLINGJ)
jump on you, like what happened to me a few years ago....

I'd always wondered about Mike Lindup's sexuality, ever since the early
days, but contrary to my assumptions, his L42 touring weakness was always
the ladies! Hence, rewind a few years back to the time he got married and I
made a non-discriminatory passing remark on the digest, that I always
thought he might have been Gay, but was now proven wrong. BANG! The MLINGJ
pounced into action. I received a tirade of personal emails from a most
upset female who said something along the lines of:

* How dare I even think Mike Lindup was gay
* In order for me to possibly think he was gay, I must be gay myself
* General juvenile abuse in the closing comments of each email

You have been warned. If the watchdog from the MLINGJ is out on patrol,
watch your inbox.

Wow, I can't wait until Doug gets caught up to 2006 - is he in for a surprise!! :-)

This quarelling is quite funny.  I must say, back in the day, when the two digest CD's came out (B-sides, and the other live/B-sides disc), Winston was kind enough to send me the discs gratis (including artwork!! - a big deal back then).  The biggest irony was that Winston also send me a video of a Mark King concert - filmed handheld by ...... Mikey!! (I'm pretty sure).

The whole "bootleg" discussion is a moot point anyway.  Through the graces of Bittorrent, I was able to download the Sight and Sound concerts (on DVD), and some other audio stuff (off of Easytree or Dime A Dozen).  There really is no morality around bootlegs or pirates with the proliferation of lossless Bittorrent sites these days.

Just agree to disagree - and if anyone has some lossless stuff to upload, I say, bring it on!!

Thanks Andrew, but please note that the address is www.level42dk.dk, ie. dk twice! It's really stupid but the other domain was already taken. I offered to buy it but never received a reply.

Hi Lolita and everyone,

In response to your email about who is going to be around for the shows in
October, I wanted to raise my hand. I bought tickets to both the Royal
Albert Hall show and the show in Brighton on the 24th. I plan to arrive on
the 19th in London and depart the day after the Brighton show (the 25th).
My mom, boyfriend and another friend of ours will be there with me too. I'd
love to meet up with the digesters, of course! Keep in touch with any
get-togethers. It will be my first time overseas and I'm excited!

:)

Angel

Hi Bill,
this is an old question... (and sincerely i don't understand why on earth a person who is/appears quiet, gentle, calm, sensible and maybe is able to sing in falsetto too, does have to be gay in people’s mind!)
Anyway, the answer is: Mike has married the lovely Samantha in 2003 and they now have a 1 year old child, named Angelo.
Mike is the kind of person who was really searching for real love, or at least trying to find it: many of his songs speak about this attitude (“One in a million”, for example, or “Lasso the moon”, or “Desire” and also “Fallen angel” from his solo album Changes... did you ever listened to them?).
He also mentioned into an interview back in 1999 (Komedia theatre, Brighton, UK) that he had had some few girlfriends in the past: I presume he simply didn’t not engage (easy) relationships if he was not moved by true feelings.
I’ve met him before Christmas 05 and he was very happy with his marriage and enthusiastic about his son.

That’s all!

Regards,

Giando
