Victor Wooten must be one of the most innovative
bass players in the world. I have a copy of his bass clinic, appearing live for
some place in New York.. where he was joined by other greats like John
Pattitucci, Michael Manring, Oteil Burbridge and Francis "Rocco" Prestia. They
all rocked the stage and the audience of course. Victor displays mind boggling
techniques and tonality, and he incorporates all that astoundingly well in his
live performance of "U Can't Hold No Groove". Even his eight-fingered tapping
frenzy sounds like a slapping thing.... and what more can I say about his
fantastic slapping style. Guys like him make the bass guitar seem like a cool
instrument to play. I'm going to practice on my bass again.
Cheers.... |
