Level 42 Digest for Friday, September 29, 2006

For those who, like me, could not wait for this new album to come out, do you regret listening to the 'snippets' in advance of the album?

I have to say that I wish I hadn't now, as I think it 'biased' the album in my mind, and even though I am open to new tracks and give them more than a fair listen. I am hearing the 'snippet' in some of the songs, instead of the main substance of the song - I hope people can underestand that last sentence! Despite having quite low self-discipline when it comes to new L42 music, I really wished I had waited to hear the tracks until I had the finished album/tracks in my hands. That being said, I love this new album, still processing it, but have to say that it ranks up there with the WM/RITF/FN albums IMHO!

I have read some other reviews on here and it seems for the most part, the vibe on this new album is excellent! Hard to believe that some of these tracks are going to be played live starting next week. I find it hard to understand why some really do not like that album, but I have to say had they come out with an Early Tapes sort of album, I might be getting flamed too for posting that I did not like most of it! I hope though that those who have really slammed it have really listend to the it. For me it is a Level 42 album, as the spirit of Level 42 is very much in your face on this album, despite (IMHO) Mike and others could have been more 'pronounced' on the album - but it is still a killer album and deserves to be Top 40 and getting heavy airplay!
