Went to the Croydon gig on Wednesday night.
It was fantastic to see Mark and Mike back on stage together and the bands playing was as tight as a tight thing.
I am much more of an old school fan of L42 and lean towards the instrumental stuff, when I saw the set list posted on this website I was wondering what I would make of the gig. Well, I have to say that I was not disappointed. Having not received the new album from Amazon yet, this was the first time that I had heard the new stuff and played live, they sounded great to me, hearing Starchild again was awsome.
My only gripe, although I hate to say this as it was a great gig, was that I thought the sound mix was appalling. I was sat just behind the sound mixer so I was hearing what he was, maybe he had a cold or his ears were shot, but for nearly the whole show and a lot of button twiddling, the low frequencies from the drums and Marks bass were so loud that it sounded like a complete mush, making it difficult to hear the individual instruments and vocals, it really was one of the worst live sounds I have ever experienced, maybe the acoustics added to the overall effect, but it was bad.
If anyone else was there I would be interested in what you thought.
Having said that, it was a great gig and I can’t imagine anyone going to the forthcoming gigs not enjoying themselves.

Cheers all
David
