Eric, the Digest Godfather, helped me out. He'll probably do the same for you, because that's the kinda guy he is... I've just been listening to Rick Astley's 1991 album Free, on which Mark King co-wrote a couple of tracks, Be With You and Really Got A Problem. Not too shabby, though I prefer Wonderful You and Behind The Smile. Cheers ~ Mike (Sydney City Milkman) __________________________________________ Yahoo! DSL – Something to write home about. there was mention of a CD by Talbot, White & Gould. I'm trying to trace the
originator of this email, but have failed via the archives (or perhaps I'm just
not technical enough to find it!), however I'm trying to track down a copy of
this CD, or where I can purchase it from.
It's "United
States of Mind", but Talbot & White. Phil Gould plays piano on one
track, and is credited on a few others. The CD is worth getting
if regularly priced, but its not so fantastic that I'd spend a huge sum of
£/time tracking it down. That said, Amazon.co.uk
seems to have it for £9.49:
Here's also a much
more detailed description of this album from Carl's all-knowing Forevernow.com
site:
FYI, Talbot &
White have 2 other CD's... Off The Beaten Track and Sticks &
Stones. To my knowledge neither of them features Phil Gould. I have
Off The Beaten Track, and its not as interesting as United States of
Mind.
cheers

| Well gang, I decided, on the spur of the moment, to take a look at the Level 42 web site, noticed that I could buy stuff via pay pal and saw that I could buy the Jazz Cafe CD....so I did. Noticed there were some other things to buy, but refrained. Anyone care to clue me into some of these CDs.....don't bother telling me about one man, trash or influences since I've already got them. Some of the other things looked interesting, but I could use a review or critique or just some background. Thanks, Win, for pointing me here originally, it just took me awhile to followup. Meanwhile.....I am currently in mid June 2000 and right now there's lots of interesting discussions about basses to buy, Anthony Richards having decided he didn't have enough instruments to play already. Also some great talk about lots of jazz funk from the 70s and Lolita furiously taking notes and hardly any bashing going on....at least right now. Toodles, Doug | ||

About 8 years ago i bought myself a PC and with
my first cd burner. At the time it was all new and funky and the envy of
all my mates. Anyway, when i bought the extra drive, it came with a
fancy label making kit for the cd's, which made them all look rather dapper
actually. I took great pride in copying all my Uni flatmates Pearl Jam,
Smashing Pumpkins and Teenage Fanclub collection and making them
all look tremendous with beautifully created labels which i printed off and
stuck on.
However, as time has passed, i've listened to my
copied discs less and less, but now i've got an ipod i've dug them out to get
them onto my new toy. Imagine my shock and utter disdain when i inserted
them into my laptop only to discover that time has degraded these copied discs
and they are now unreadable both on my stereo and on my computer.
I must have acquired over 300 copied cd's
from friends and family over the years, (illegal as hell, i know, but do i look
bovvered? It's opened up whole new avenues of music and artists for me, so
i'll run the risk), and about 100 of them have these labels on them. Lo
and behold, it's all the discs that have the labels that either don't
work anymore or have poor sound quality!
Has anyone else encountered this? Surely
I'm not the only one! I'll bet the manufacturers of these labels are
unaware that their products actually damage the data on cd's over time.
I'm not sure how, but the coincidence is too great - all my non labelled cd's
work just fine.
A few years back, a kind digester provided me
with copies of the digest cd's Past & Presence and AYGB. Both of
these have got nice printed labels. Neither of them work now. Which
means i'm going to have to hunt out my Overtime cd single from my mum's
loft in order to get At This Great Distance on my ipod. Or i could
just download it, of course, but that's not the point.
Go home people, hunt out any copied and
labelled discs and find out if i'm either the unluckiest guy in the world
or i've uncovered a global conspiricy to halt illegal cd
copying.
