Hey Craig,
Starting to play the bass, aye? Well mate, you have
no idea what the digesters have in store for you. This reminds me of some bloke
who had the same desire and without a doubt, the forum was filled with countless
bass guitar enthusiasts chipping in for some good ol' Zen.
So mate, first of all.... do you have a bass
guitar? Or do you plan to borrow one from a friend? Either way, you'll need one.
Now don't go rushing to the store for a hefty Jaydee or Alembic.... or even a
Status, which sensei Mark King is currently using. Start off with a simple
4-string axe and that should get you rolling along the way. You might want to
get a beginner's guide book to help you with the rudiments and you just might
have a go at reading tablatures. The best way to learn to play musical
instruments is always from a music teacher or an experienced player, but it
doesn't really matter if you're planning to do the Jedi thingy and do it
yourself. I did, at least on the bass guitar. I'm sure that there'll be other
bass gurus itching to give you ample advice on starting your bass guitar
journey. Damn I'm already itching :) Are you going to play like MK in three
months? Dude, you'll never know. As an encouragement, you just might develop
your own unique style and cut your own album. Anyways, just stay tuned for more
expert advices (and believe me, there will be).... and welcome to the world of
bass players.
Cheers....
Hope to keep in touch. |
