| >"Obviously, the best Level 42 compilation CD is 'On >The Level' as it is the only place in the world which >contains the full version of 'Standing In The >Light'..." >The regular album version of SITL is 3:42. The On The >Level version is 3:52 or, according to my iTunes, >3:55. Either way, I don't get how an extra dozen or so >seconds qualifies it as 'the full version'. Have I >missed something or were you taking the piss, Loz? So out of school he walks alone, soon his thoughts are flowing like an open stream An empty house he calls his home, this place becomes a temple to a silent dream Sometimes he will clap and sing, then deep in mediation he will learn to be And only birds upon the wing with upwards fascination claim to be so free. In terms of Mark doing 'something new' - yes, that's to be welcomed. But welcomed as though it's a new level 42 album - the sequel to Forever Now as it were - errr, no. We're well past that. Each to their own, but Mark's had his go and his music is not as good as that he produced with Mike, Phil, Boon and Wally. I don't think his hunger and drive is what it was either. I'm looking more towards Mike for a fix. L()Z | ||

| Hi folks, Here's a question. Would you agree, Level 42's earlier sound owed more to Phil Gould and Wally Badarou than Mark or Mike? Later on, "post-Gould" their sound was more of an eclectic mix of Rock-Jazz a la Jack Bruce, Cream etc. Do you'se all agree? Lastly, for 10 points. Can you name the one and only album not to feature any of the Gould boys? Neither Boon, Phil or John for that matter. Big up for a new album, whether it's a Mark solo, L42 effort or both! By the way, L42 without Mike might be hard to swallow but if Wally's involved..... Later, Jules | ||

LOL you guys. The best digest for a while. Keep it up.
If Mark’s going back into the studio, great stuff. If the result is pants, I’ll still buy it ‘cause I’m easily parted from my cash. And I owe him a big thank you (still) for the pleasure he (& the others) have given me. In the nicest possible way of course.
And speaking of ‘coming all over Gywneth Paltrow’, dare we do a top ten along those lines?........thought not.
Try and hear Mark singing on Gary’s new album, Aspire, it is brilliant – like the whole album – and shows that he can sing as well as that other thing he does.
