Here's a question. Would you agree, Level 42's
earlier sound owed more to
Phil Gould and Wally Badarou than Mark or Mike? My take on your
question... I very much like the early years of L42, the time in which these lads
got together... the "music school days"
had a very unique
British funk sound, crisp clear funky tunes, catchy lyrics.
The Gould brothers as a whole
put a lot of creativity in this band, Boon has a way with words, he was
fresh with ideas at that time, catchy lyrics. Phil's drum playing
capability extremely diverse, giving mark alot of incentive to get his bass
playing to an optimum. All working together very well... goes without
saying.
Obviously they
had a love for high energy jazz - funk / pop, but there were a lot of
influences around in thoses days from the US to move them in the direction they
ultimately lead. That's why they are in a class of there
own.
Wally has a
wonderful heightened sense of sound, he knew what the people were
listening to in those days, he understood the musical creativity from the band
their instrumental play ability and positioned them
so.
my 42
sense

PS If you have not
seen "War of the worlds" go check it out, it's pretty neat... kinda like Jeff
Waynes musical adaptation.
"slowy and surley
they drew their plans against us"

Allwyn can too! Oh I don't doubt Allwyn can. But what about Jimmy Hoffa? And the Easter Bunny? And the little people who live in the toaster and smile at you when you turn on their sun lamp every morning? > Laura in California There's a location nobody would have guessed. > 3. Question > From: Julian Arnold > > Lastly, for 10 points. Can you name the one and only > album not to feature > any of the Gould boys? Neither Boon, Phil or John > for that matter. Is it 'Pet Sounds' by The Beach Boys? AG PS Is it me or is the twist in 'Fight Club' one of the stupidest, laziest pieces of scripting in cinema history?
