| Since Mikey posted some info from the webdigest, here issome more: From Paul Waller: Boon Gould has written the lyrics for the eleven tracks on the new Level 42 album. All of the musical composition has been done by Mark King. One of the band members i've spoken to today. I don't want to mention names on the board. He told me the sound of the album is a middle ground between the funky aspect and the pop aspect of Level 42. It goes a lot of ways with lots of newer influences, but there is definitely a fair helping of the funkier angle too. He told me Mark explains it as a Level 42 album for 2005. He said if I like what's gone before i'm sure to like this. He said the new line up feature and maybe a few others.... He didn't elaborate on this point. Boon wrote the lyrics and Mark the music. Its already been posted that Gary confirmed recording drum tracks for the 11 tracks in about 2 days, with lots of first takes being used. Also.....this was posted by LARS... Oh, and Phil's solo album seems on it's way. This is what Al Slavik, the bass player has to say: After one day in Vienna (I simply had to be in Austria for mothersday to see my family)I flew to England and recorded whats gonna be Phil Goulds Solo-album in his house in Dorset. It was great fun hanging and playing with Phil,Mike Lindup and Miles Bould and to make things even better Mike Westergaard was in charge of the recordingprocess.I met Mike way back when Slava and I recorded Another night in London in Studio 99,London;he also mixed my Solo-album&;The Secret One which is gonna be released in Australia later this year... Back to Phils Album…its gonna be a beauty !!! ;not the typical drummer-album at all; besides his skill&tasteful drumming the man is a great songwriter and lyricist as he proved with Level 42 in the past;We also managed to play a gig in a small local club called Monkey´s where we played a real mixture of songs by Phil ,Mike Lindup and myself, old classics like Stratus by Billy Cobham and some Level 42 classics to finish off a great night . Hi All,
Been on the digest for many years but never posted...
Took a pilgramage to the Isle of Wight on Saturday with the intention of visiting the infamous Joe Daflos... my girlfriend and I sat and waited at our tables for 20 minutes to be served.... and then gave up! I am sure that it would have been better when Mark owned it!
Any other digesters had similar experiences... or did I just catch them on an off day?
Jim
