Hi Guys
Its Over and Leaving me now are incredible songs..........
the 4 members contribution are top notch..........
I feel Phils Drumming gets ITS OVER across the line.........
and Lolita.....(hello) Lying Still.....Lyrics incredible........
but once again that drumming. one of my fav songs.......
I must come clean......It was Phil's Drumming that 1st
made me like LEVEL 42 ..When I first heard  Level it was the great songs
and Lyrics and the funk and the Bass............but that drumming.........wow!!!
and as we have been together (digest) for some time I would  like to say this to all of you.......
I am very disappointed that they parted ...........as we all are..........but disappointed that
the guys never released anything after LEVEL42 of the same standard..
Marks one man is nice.........wish it was done as LEVEL 42
its like the Beatles is'nt it.........John and Paul.......when separate..............ho hum
but together..........wow!!!!!!
what are the guys doing..............get back together and give us one more
album............we want LEVEL 42 not all the other stuff.
get back to f...ing gether
please............or we are just wasting out time talking about the past...........

there you go I said what we all wanted to say I guess...........

an impeccable groove
cheers from Sydney
Jeff

Nice discussion on slow songs chaps! I vote for "Hours
by the window" and "I want eyes". The version of the
latter that Mark played live in the aftermath of the
2001 attacks on America made one of the most emotional
musical experiences in my life.
Cheers,
mac

Don, to truly appreciate the Donald Fagen DVD-A's, I would suggest listening to at least the DTS surround mixes if you're not interested in the dedicated high resolution DVD-A mixes (both stereo and surround).  I think the last time I posted on this digest (back in 2003, two children ago), I had opined to Nightfly that he might want to pick up The Nightly DVD-A (the other one was released after).

You can probably still get a reasonably cheap, hybrid player that plays both DVD-A and SACD.  Sadly, I believe both formats will be consigned to the "niche" category but the aural experience (especially for most surround mixes) is quite astounding.  I don't think it'll ever happen but a high resolution surround mix of at least a Level 42 greatest hits would be amazing.  Another great surround DVD-A is Queen's "A Night At The Opera".  Though many "audio purists" don't like the concept, many surround mixes have a dedicated lead vocal in the centre channel.  I sometimes isolate this channel and it's amazing how much new stuff you hear in pitch and tone on songs you've heard a million times before.  One of my favourite isolated vocal tracks is "Can't Hide Love" by Earth, Wind & Fire (where the centre channel is just the lead vocal and a bass track).  I could imagine that if the people here could hear Level 42 in 6 channels, there'd be a whole new universe of nerdy dissertation on Mark King's singing and bass playing.

(In Randy Jackson (of American Idol fame) mode:  where are my dawgs, Nightfly of Oxford and Friesen of Sick Kids (right here in Toronto)?)

Best wishes and back to the kiddies,

Cliff - Toronto
