Jen, Tom, Andrew, Floydrose, thanks for the birthday wishes. Much appreciated. Happy greetings from people around the world who I've never met face to face are cool indeed. >> Tom Foolery <grooveyardtom @ yahoo.com> Hope the drums are still cookin' for you in your advanced years. << Oh yeah, still cooking. Mostly fricasseeing and flambe-ing these days, but still some good ol' down home baking too. >> May I say I recently beat you to it? I turned 42 in September, << Geezer! >> the DVD of "Hitchhiker's Guide" << Ah yes, many many years later, it finally hit the big screen (I saw it twice) and then the DVD retailers (I picked it up immediately). I've know the various conflicting versions for so long now that I can't possibly give an unbiased opinion of the movie. I liked it. Partly because they did a fairly good job of it, but also just for nostalgia. I also bought the DVD of the original TV series. I had it on VHS already (crappiest quality you've ever seen: the cheapies at Fox put all six episodes on one tape, so it had to be low speed. Wankers.). On the DVD, there's on-screen production notes as a special feature. When they get to the bit about 42, they mention Level 42! Way cool! The TV version doesn't have much of a plot, but Adams is all about ridiculous situations and dialogue, and there's way more of both in the old one. Plus, it's just cool to see that Adams basically invented the Palm computer (the Hitchhiker's Guide itself) decades before anybody else. >> Andrew Goodwin <thenightfly83 @ yahoo.co.uk> I didn't realise you were such an old bastard. Or perhaps I should say, I didn't realise you were so old. << I wasn't . And now I am. If you haven't caught on to the whole fourth dimension thing, you're not missing much. Cheers to all, ...Alex... | ||
