Really? I would have thought the casual concert
attending fan would be perfectly happy with one of the
94 greatest hits compilations out there. And the only
people likely to be interested in a whopping great 3
disc set of protracted remixes and obscure B sides
would be the people here. And not even many of them
frankly. In fact I find it a mystifying release all
round. Like you say, if your only target audience is
going to be obsessives (no offence, but some of you
are) then at least put a few other unreleased tracks
on it.

> New Level 42 CD - yawn, I've got to agree.

Now that's a curious one. Surely it has to be a
positive step that Mark King is at least in the studio
creating new material? It might not be a perfect
scenario, but it's better than nothing isn't it?

Vauxhall Conference or summat??

I think it's still called League Two for this season,
but I'm lobbying for it to be renamed the Super League
for next season, and the Hyper League the year after
that.

At the point that I left nobody had written anything
beautifully for months and months.

I have retired at four. Any more would be showing off.

Is this the one with the wonderful video to New
Frontier on it?

Who? Is it OK if I call you Vi?

Nice though it is of you to say so, I'm happy to
report that this is cobblers. At the point I
unsubscribed someone said something very similar to
me, and I said to him that nobody would even notice
I'd left, and so it proved. Furthermore, with four
responses from 485 subscribers I make that an approval
rating of around 0.8% - even George Bush manages
slightly higher than that. The silent majority lives!
But, for the time being at least, sod 'em.

But those were the only reason I stayed! That's it,
I'm off.

Blub... I'm coming over all Gwyneth Paltrow... (in the
nicest possible sense).

PS What kind of stupid name is 'The Ultimate
Collection II'? Don't they know what ultimate means?

Andrew.....
I just might come out of hibernation too if you come back.
I miss your sarcastic put downs and negative one liners.  I can handle it. Allwyn can too!

I'll go with the TRASH.  Even collaborating, I really think that any attempt Mark makes to be current and commercial will be destined to failure, even before its launch.  Witness ONE MAN, an interesting attempt, but not his best work, let's face it.

On the other hand, I really like most of the songs on TRASH, so just following his own muse is probably his best shot at any kind of success.  Of course, what he should do is poll the fans.  We know best, after all. ;o)

The irreverent Loz Green wrote (and I cut & paste):

"Obviously, the best Level 42 compilation CD is 'On
The Level' as it is the only place in the world which
contains the full version of 'Standing In The
Light'..."

The regular album version of SITL is 3:42. The On The
Level version is 3:52 or, according to my iTunes,
3:55. Either way, I don't get how an extra dozen or so
seconds qualifies it as 'the full version'. Have I
missed something or were you taking the piss, Loz?

Cheers ~ Mike (Sydney City Milkman)
