>>One of my favourite Level42 moments ever is Boon's solo on Something About You, on the Tube TV show. In fact it may be one of my favourite guitar solos, and I remember seeing it live on a Friday after school (the weekend they released World Machine); I taped it when it was rebroadcast in their Christmas special.

There are many other great Boon moments throughout his time with L42; off the top of my head: some of his solos on the WM song live, eg the LAW video. For some reason I also remember particularly enjoying his work on the Physical Presence (song); listen to what he is doing when they are singing 'Perfecteed in Si, i, lence). Brilliant<<

I agree., PP live (on reverse of It’s Over 12” I presume you mean??) is a fantastic song from all concerned I think. My fav Boon-bit (catchphrase anyone? ) is the guitar on Foundation from Physical Presence album as they wind down at the end. Totally moving and quite the most expressive bit of guitar work (from my position as a drum-fan) I can think of.

I also remember reading somewhere that Eric Clapton struggled with the frets/notes (insert tech name here) when the “all-stars” band covered a L42 song which escapes me now at one of those Prince’s Trust gigs.

Speaking of which, the Prince’s Trust gig that the later L42 line up hosted with Nigel Kennedy, organised I think by George Martin, was a top show and introduced me to the delights of Gary H. Anyone else catch that?
