Come on Norman, keep up. Doug is making these comments
rooted in 1999. You have to think of him like one of
those people who fall into a coma, then wake up years
later still convinced that Ronald Reagan is President.
Doug’s reality is six years ago, when Laurence had
just completed his collection (imagine how crestfallen
he’ll be when he discovers he went and sold it all!),
when Mark King had yet to hijack the name Level 42 for
his band of merry session men (incidentally I last saw
Lyndon Connah’s name on the back of an Unplug The
Beatles CD available for £2.99 at my local
newsagent…), a golden age when I blissfully had but
half the children I do now.

Thanks for the, umm, support AG....I see each of the digests as I move them to my Level 42 folder in Eudora (I am an anti-filter kind of guy) and noticed this..so I had to reply. RR as President? Good God, what a horrid thought! I actually believed when I read the part about LOZ...of course it COULD be true, but somehow I really kinda doubt it. As for the rest of this paragraph, well I will pretend to have not read it and still be surprised when, months from now, I get more current...like 2004 or so.

We need to stand by Doug as he goes through the
traumatic six years in between. As he watches the
Digest crumble before his eyes. I for one am dreading
the day when he reads of Phil Gould dying in a hideous
gardening accident.

Yeah....I noticed in a few digests I have yet to read that there was 1300ish digesters.....I am looking forward to finding out why Eric had to go and screw it all up. Uh, Eric, that's meant as a light hearted slam. Some of the other mailing lists I'm on have done more or less what you did...and lost a bunch of members in the process. Man, I seem to be making it worse....never mind Eric.....look away, there's nothing to see here.

Can I play too? We'd hafta get a bigger table though, but I wonder if there's a big enough table to keep Alex and AG from dueling with each other over who has the bigger, ummmm, ego. Eek......I meant wit.

[Laughs like Bender in ‘Futurama’] Woo ha ha! They
never mastered it with me, what makes you think they
will with you?! I wouldn’t worry though, these days
only about 12 people actually read this thing.

I wonder how far off the mark you are, AG. But hell, if people forget that I am years behind the current digest, who am I to blame them when they misread what I am saying? Even when I reference what digest I happen to be on or making a reference to? Reading comprehension can be a lost art.

> Oh, and Laura is right, I have neglected to include
Alex Friesen as one of the funniest people of the
digest. He's a funny guy with a bit of a mean streak
to go with it.

Friesen? Mean? The man’s about as scary as a balloon
on a stick.

Well, AG, you can't possibly think that YOU are the meanest person of the past or present digest, can you? You are not a mean guy, there is no vitriol in any of your posts. You make it seem like there is, but that's only for the dolts who don't get it or are just slow on the uptake. How can you be a meanie if you constantly have me in hysterics when you get on one of your rolls?

OK, we’ve known for years that Laura thinks she’s a
bloke called Allwyn, now we also have a Lisa who
thinks she’s a bloke called Colin? Where’s it all
going to end? And would this be a good time to come
out and admit that I’m really a New Yorker named
Lolita?

And what’s more I take offence at your yuletide
bonhomie, “Colin”. (I’ll show that Doug bloke, he
thinks Friesen is mean?)

Darn it AG, I specifically sent YOU season's greetings in a post and I got nothing, NOTHING in response. I was mildly disappointed. So, now to AG and all the rest of the masses, those who post and those who don't - Have a terrific New Year's Eve and a happy and healthy 2006.

Doug 'Off to do some more reading'
