Besides, iTunes will convert these on-the-fly before loading into the iPod. But what about the sound quality? That was the thing that always bugged me about .mp3 files: the grungy sound quality. Without doing a direct A/B comparison, I can't distinguish AAC files from the original CD tracks. And yet they're much smaller than .mp3's! > I'm now looking at replacing the OEM deck in my car with an aftermarket unit that has an > iPod interface (Pioneer makes a double-din unit that will control the iPod and has XM Radio, > XM Traffic and GPS navigation all built in). I have the Alpine iPod interface mounted in the glove box of my PT Cruiser GT Turbo, and an Alpine CD head unit in the dash. I keep my iPod in a Matias iPod Armor case in the glove box, plugged into the Alpine box. As my entire CD collection lives on the iPod, as well as on my computer in iTunes (the only way to get music into an iPod), I seldom need to bring the iPod in the house, except to load new music occasionally. The car rig keeps it nicely charged, and my entire music collection travels with me everywhere I go. The other day I got my teeth cleaned at the dentist's, so I unplugged the iPod from the car, and took it along with a pair of Shure earbuds, and listened to Steely Dan's remastered AJA album during the procedure. Much more pleasant that way! Z | ||

| Lars Brought back fond memories of the tour that the band did with Luciano Pavarotti. There was an excellent & varied set list on display every night. Who can forget the poignancy of "She Can Help Herself", "Kansas City Milkman" & "Pan" from the recently released "Staring at the Bun" album. "Cream Crazy" went down well followed by the 12" mix of "Coup D' Tato". As usual the night finished with a medley of top hits climaxing with a kebab van stopping version of "The Chinese Takeaway". Have a good weekend everyone, Mark --------------------------------------------------------------- LEGAL NOTICE Unless expressly stated otherwise, this message is confidential and may be privileged. | 'allo ... ... Dirkies said: "...has anyone a full list what is now available on DVD from L42...?" Fab idea - can someone post this? Sounds like a job for SuperLoz! DJames said: "I must have missed the original post that brought up the iPod..." That would be me, mate - I was keen to hear what other Digesters thought. I bought my son Jack a six gig Mini and he stopped talking to me so I bought myself one. Personally I love it, filled as it is with L42 and MK gear. But I have small ears and sometimes the earpieces fall out! And I could do with a bit more bass. Remember Tony Sharpe's Madacious Mix (brilliant piece of gear). When ripped to iTunes, it comes as separate files so I'm wondering, when I load it onto the iPod, whether it'll still play continuously, as intended...? I always thought a Level 42 acoustic set would be interesting. Imagine it - Level 42 on MTV Unplugged! Oh, and I've got a spare copy of Mike's 'Changes' CD if anyone wants to swap for something interesting. In fact, my favourite second hand CD store - Ten Seconds Down in Chatswood for you locals - has just about all the back catalogue if anyone's after anything specific. Still trying to get this image of Winston with no arse out of my head, after he laughed it off at EmiKatie. Fantastic crowd. Happy Anzac Day to all Aussies and Kiwis. Cheers ~ Mike (Sydney City Milkman) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com |
