There’s a brief talk in the biography about how the band loved the album cover for ‘Level 42’ and that’s why they went with the same artist for ‘The Pursuit Of Accidents’ but they hated the album cover for the second album. I might add, that I have a proof glossy of the original sketch done by Joy Barling to show the band/rec. company the proposed artwork – it’s wonderful.

You’re right Jay. I’d love to know the inside story on the choice of the ‘vulcan princess’ as an icon for the band. I wonder if it was Joy Barling’s idea or the band themselves? I know Phil and Boon and Mark were heavily influence by Science fiction, but Star Trek, it’s pretty low brow stuff for Phil and Boon.

I bow to your Star Trek knowledge Don. I wonder where the whole princess thing came from then? It seems to have stuck what with the ‘princess bass’ etc. Although I alse have seen it in print as ‘lady logo’ – I suppose there were copyright issues.

>Man, that "L()Z" guy really dislikes Mark.

No, if anything Loz is one of the largest “fans” on
this forum. He just does not confuse a, what (?),
3-minute meeting with MK (or anyone, I would hope)
into being “a nice guy”. MK might buy you lunch, a
car, send you a t-shirt, whatever, this, however,
doesn’t mean that his business sense isn’t about
on-par with a later day Martha Stewart.

> When I am having a good day, reading his
> anti-Mark posts puts a sort of cloud over it nad
[sic] makes me sad.

What is this “it”? My money rides of
“disillusionment.”

>The show was very energetic and I blame whatever lack
of soul
> on the musicians.

The “musicians” aside from MK you mean?
Well, even if, please be advised that MK is the band’s
leader and is solely responsible for anything
“lacking” within.
“Nice guy” or not.

>The current line-up is less soulful and
> it's no wonder I was the only Black in the audience!

Yes, I believe there was a large article in The Sun
about how Current42 manages NO reading on the Soul-dar
(like radar, get it?), hence all the black people stay
at home and watch The Office and listen to Will Young.
Sociologists are fearing what impact this may have in
the future.
