Of course if he's left (since we're dropping by roughly one list member a day) I'll be happy to elaborate. > 2. Guaranteed Rick Ross > From: Green, Laurence > > Here's the song - it's fairly typical of Ross's lyrics, and by no means his best work You mean it gets even better than that?! Surely not? OK, so there are plenty of worse lyricists in the world, but it's all so mundane and literal. The Deacon Blue lyrics I've read are like the musical equivalent of an LS Lowry picture. Give me the venom of Elvis Costello's Pills And Soap, or the elegance of Tom Waits' A Foreign Affair, or the impressionism of Donald Fagen's The Goodbye Look, or the whimsy of Neil Hannon, or the working class wordplay of Chris Difford... What the hell though, if it twiddles your knobs good luck to you. When it comes to Deacon Blue I can never get past the stupid name anyway. AG PS Anyone familiar with The High Llamas? And if so, any recommendations? ___________________________________________________________ALL-NEW Yahoo! Messenger - all new features - even more fun! http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com | ||

| Well I remember seeing the Saturday morning kids TV promo appearances for the "Guaranteed" release and I thought it...well....plain sucked. Like organ transplants, there's always a chance that the recipients immune system will reject the foreign body. 'fraid my Gould antibodies were just too strong. Rgds thedrumdoctor |
