| >>To me he looks like he belongs in a German concentration camp Aric, I'm not totally sure what you're trying to say here, but this is mightily close to being very offensive. Maybe a different choice of analogy may be wiser. -T ________________________________________________________________ The views expressed in this e-mail are the views of the individual and may not reflect the views of the organisation. | -RightAgainstLeft @ aol.com >The digest is the only email I enjoy > opening up to read on a daily basis. Don’t get much mail, do you? Hell, I’ve read spam more interesting... >fading pop star's obviously fake breast Looked like a pretty real breast from here. > I do think most Americans have > become far too jaded with all of this nonsense that > dominates our pop culture. Not that I disagree but America _is_ pop culture. Without it it’s a very large continent based on false history. I’ll take Ms. Spears over that. >If you have to > rely on debauchery to sell records it's obvious you > don't have much in the way of genuine talent. What is "talent"? Can one not have "talent" for, say, "debauchery"? > Ms. Jackson's choice to flash a national audience on > stage was just stupid in light of the trouble her > brother is in I very much agree. >As far as Mr. Timberlake is concerned, I just > don't get it. I've never heard of this punk before > this incident occurred, Don’t own a radio, do you? >To me he looks like he belongs in a > German concentration camp. This is the most bizarre comment I’ve seen in some time. And just to keep you current, they (Germans) no longer have such things. >I doubt many people will > remember this kid five years from now. I’ll take that bet. Big time. > The real tragedy in this situation > was that it was one of the best Super Bowl games > ever, Maybe, if you’ve only been watching them for 2 or 3 years. >If I ordered a Justin > Timberlake CD off Amazon, they would have shipped it > out in twenty four hours. What's wrong with this > picture? Nothing "wrong" with it. You’ve placed an order for a band that no one (sales-wise, and getting to be fan-wise) gives a damn about anymore. If you ordered an album from (one of) the best selling ‘artists’ today and didn’t get it lickety split, _then_ there would be something wrong. These albums ship platinum. The only thing platinum about "level42" is that it is a word MK will probably throw onto a tour title at some point. j(ay) __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Well, I have to say I agree with some of the points posted by most folks, Including Aric. I think that when folks start stripping on stage, it shows They have no confidence in their singing ability, or performing ability. For the life of me I cant understand why Janet Jackson would think This was a smart thing to do, even if she only meant to show her bra.
While not a Justin Timberlake fan at all, I’m not sure if I understand The remark you made Aric, saying he ‘looks like he belongs in a German concentration camp’. What in the hell does that mean? I sure hope you meant to say something else.
On a lighter note, If anyone is interested in downloading some video footage... I noticed this morning that the 60 min concert from Veronica's Rocknight has been posted to the following newsgroup:
Alt.binaries.mpeg.video.music
Its a live show introduced by Adam Curry. Its in AVI format, approx 716meg in size. Tracks are as follows:
Almost There Turn It On Dune Tune / Bass Solo Love Games I Want Eyes Foundation & Empire The Sun Goes Down Hot Water The Are You Hearing?
Its been posted in WinRar format, 50 parts, when combined becomes the AVi file. Video format is pretty clean, with a good amount of Tape hiss.
Worth the download if you havent seen this gig.

| >2. leaping to the defence of BRMC >From: Stephen.Whyte @ lpc.tv < Stephen.Whyte @ lpc.tv> > >Oh, come on now. That's low... Look, you VOLUNTEERED to be the running gag, and I never promised to exclude private jokes. >I've been to a couple of gigs on my own before. The most recent gig I went >to on my own was to see Mike perform at The Goose pub towards the end of >last year. Thing is though, some sort of company is nice before the gig, >between bands and then to discuss it with afterwards. Are you insane? There is nothing more irritating than having someone else’s opinion rammed home just as you’re absorbing your own response. “L’enfer, c’est les autres.” Although personally I adhere to the belief that “L’enfer, c’est les francais.” >But to answer your three conditions, i have to say the following: a) sing for it “Allons enfants de la Patrie, Le jour de gloire est arrivé!” etc. >b) i know your feelings on this fine city, so it'd be like drawing blood from a stone Well, to be fair, I like the squirrels which will eat from your hand in Holland Park. But that’s pretty much all London has going for it. >c) what do you mean "once we do meet..."? Just in case though, i'll be >sure to wear my BRMC t-shirt, get miraculously drunk and stand right in >front of you at the gig. Only if you promise to sing along. And look daggers at me for not standing up. And bring George Benson’s bass player with you for good measure. >3. Mark King on BBC1 >From: James Watkins < james @ bpbaxter.co.uk> > >Anybody else see Mark on BBC1 last night (Thursday)? He was on for at least half a second. Just you I think. How long have you been sitting watching TV on the off chance? >4. We Took The Village By Suprise... >From: dean.osborn < dean.osborn @ bt.com> > >The League knows that sex sells, and dresses it's cheerleaders in very skimpy and suggestive uniforms with extremely suggestive dance routines, and let's not be coy here, they know that men at football games ogle them and use their imagination. So for the NFL to parade women in that fashion and then throw their arms up in disgust at JJ's breast is gross hypocrisy - what are they saying ? Suggestion is fine but revelation is out of bounds ? Well, I take your point that in a sense their bluff has been called, but personally I feel that there is a very broad line between suggestion and revelation. There is a world of difference between being teased and tantalised and having something laid bare before you. That said, if an organisation plays with fire repeatedly then it’s in a largely defenceless position if its fingers get burned. >Let's not even go into the subjects sung by the half time music artists , and they say this is family entertainment... I was particularly impressed by P Diddy, a man so endowed with talent he has to mime talking. (‘Rapping’ I believe the young folk call it.) >My point ? - all of this stuff happens week after week in the NFL and no-one bats an eyelid, so why the big deal now ? I suspect you’re being deliberately disingenuous Dean (note for Tom, second meaning – “pretending to be unaware or unsophisticated”.) Across all sorts of media, excitement is generated by going right to the line without going over it, by remaining in an implicit safety zone which subliminally reassures while consciously engendering stimulus. If you cross that line you’re shattering all sorts of psychological defence mechanisms, and it’s to that that people reacted so violently. I’m not disputing there’s a degree of hypocrisy in it – “We’re all complicit in this charade of decency, how dare you expose us” – but I also think there’s some legitimacy to it as well. Jackson and Timberlake may have only gone one step further than was being taken already, but it was a big, clumsy, tawdry step. Personally I’m just disappointed that after 15 years of finding Janet Jackson cute as hell I now find myself looking at her and thinking “You sad old Madonna-aping slapper’. (No offence to anybody who might manage to be offended by that.) >5. Sport >From: dean.osborn < dean.osborn @ bt.com> > >Not to take anything away from Loz or AG, but I feel I must apologise somewhat as it was my original post backing the Panthers for the Superbowl that started this whole sports thing Pah, anybody can START talking about something. It takes a special gift to ramble on about it frothy-mouthed for days. AG ___________________________________________________________ BT Yahoo!
