Just a quick note as on the web digest to say that I have managed to secure
a upstairs bar in the Baxters Court which is next door to Ocean and if you would
like to meet fellow digesters from here or the web digest, please can you let me
know if you are coming to the gig and if so how many of you so I know that the
bar can stay booked.
There are alot of people on the web digest that are coming and it would be
great to meet people from the email digest before hand for a few jars and a
natter.
I am looking forward to meeting many of you as are many of the other guys
that are coming and I am sure it will be a great gig so if you want to meet
others, please do let me know via email or list your names here and I can add
you to the list and I will list all people attending by the Thursday before the
gig here and the web digest so you know whos there and arrange meeting up with
old friends and so on.
Sometimes we all have the same beliefs but we all seem so segragated for no
reason so lets meet each other and see if we can get the 2 digests together.
:o)
Take care all and see you all soon.
Sharmin

I'll be there next Saturday. I'm experiencing a mixture of
excitement and dread about the gig. Excited cos it's a L42 gig, but
dread because i may have paid £25 for a ticket to the same concert
as the last tour. Please Mark, surprise us with something
different...

Hey All,
I have been a Level 42 fan since World Machine, but
being over here in the states, I have lost track of the post L42 work done by
the original members of the group. Can anyone recommend any particular CD's to
look for?
Thanks

Ah yes, ILF '98 and the One Man Funky Bus Tour. Two of the best trips
of my life. Some highlights:
* Using my obsessive engineer-trained personality to put together a waaay
too intricate itinerary. Everybody's arrival, departure, hotel and meeting
points. I have not done anything like that since - I happened to have a
lull at work and had lots of time to coordinate that, as well as the
shirts.
* Walking forever down King's Rd. to get to the Old Dutch Pancake House,
begging them to put on a Level 42 CD, then singing so loudly that we drove
everyone else away from where we were sitting.
* Steve Randall falling asleep in the middle of the party at the Raytheon
Marine with a drink in his hand - I have a picture to prove it.
* The mystery of Britpop.
* Walking down the street after exiting the Isle of Wight ferry and having
Bilal come up to me and say 'Excuse me, are you Lolita?' He recognized me
from the web, and we have been fast friends for the last six years ever
since.
* The JTQ concert at The Forum - fantastic!
* The side trip to Bath by Jen Reddin [now Wilson!], Dan, Kristin and I
[The Royal Crescent story]
* Calling Ria to simply let her know we were coming, and not expecting such
a large spread of food, or for Mark himself to show up! What a great
surprise that was.
* Dancing the night away to nothing but Level 42 songs, and jamming with so
many terrific bass players in our ranks - Don, Adz, Rob Steen, Morgan...
* The excitement of those of us from America who had never seen the band
live during that first One Man tour gig in Leicester - we were front row center
with our matching shirts.
* The 70 Levelfesters who showed up for the Shep's Bush gig - people flew
in from all over the world for that one night. There were so many of us
that we were mentioned in the newspaper review the next day. I have a
picture that sits on my windowsill to this day of over 35 of us from that
night. Brilliant!
* At the same show, meeting Gary in the back of the room, who was
COMPLETELY drunk, and our crowd scaring Boon to death by surrounding him and
asking a ton of questions.
I have so many great memories of my trips across the big pond to meet up
with all of you, but the first two trips were by far the best.
