Lot of guff spouted (again - yawn!) about football/soccer violence here in
the UK.

Not a mention yet about the scenes in Boston after the 'Pats' Superbowl win
on Sunday. Sure I saw cars burned, overturned and didn't someone die in the
carnage? Kettle, pot, black etc. I think.

I've been to a couple of gigs on my own before. The most recent gig I went
to on my own was to see Mike perform at The Goose pub towards the end of
last year. Thing is though, some sort of company is nice before the gig,
between bands and then to discuss it with afterwards. But to answer your
three conditions, i have to say the following: a) sing for it, b) i know
your feelings on this fine city, so it'd be like drawing blood from a
stone, (or getting responses from MK for the Q&A section of L42.com), and
c) what do you mean "once we do meet..."? Just in case though, i'll be
sure to wear my BRMC t-shirt, get miraculously drunk and stand right in
front of you at the gig.

Steve

Andrew, I know that you don't follow the NFL, but for those like me that do, I'm finding the whole attitude of the American media and NFL themselves smacks of complete hypocrisy over this.
The League knows that sex sells, and dresses it's cheerleaders in very skimpy and suggestive uniforms with extremely suggestive dance routines, and let's not be coy here, they know that men at football games ogle them and use their imagination. So for the NFL to parade women in that fashion and then throw their arms up in disgust at JJ's breast is gross hypocrisy - what are they saying ? Suggestion is fine but revelation is out of bounds ?
For that matter, the NFL has it's own TV channel where their own people talk about the points spread on the game, yet the league shuns betting completely - more hypocrisy ! They have beer sponsers and let you drink at the staduims yet pour scorn on the players who have one too many. They talk about the protection of children yet play (repeatedly) a song by a convicted peodaphile (Gary Glitter's ROCK N ROLL) over the stadium P.A - Gross hypocrisy at it's worst.
Let's not even go into the subjects sung by the half time music artists , and they say this is family entertainment...
My point ? - all of this stuff happens week after week in the NFL and no-one bats an eyelid, so why the big deal now ?
Perhaps one of the American digesters can provide an insight for us into the Psyche of the U.S media, because i'm baffled ?

Not to take anything away from Loz or AG, but I feel I must apologise somewhat as it was my original post backing the Panthers for the Superbowl that started this whole sports thing - then again - it does seem to have kick started the digest again to something akin to the old days so maybe it was a good thing.
Anyway - great to see so many original characters back again, AG, Loz, Andre, Colin etc.....now all we need is a new Level 42 album...hmm
