Hello, my name is Giando
(...better, this is my family nickname - the real one is Giandomenico - John Dominic in english - a
bit too long for all tastes) and i write from Italy.
I live in Varese, 50 km north from Milan and i work in advertising as copywriter and art-director.

I love Level 42 since i was 12 - and i'm 30yo now. They're my favourite group ever.
And here is very difficult to find both fans and material about them.

I play piano since i was 3, then synths and guitars and also use my voice to sing on some of my
compositions, which are actually very influenced by Level 42 style.
I play also some covers of Level 42 sometimes.

Other passion includes motorsports, design (i use to make technical drawings of sportscar), movies
(especially the Star Wars saga - i'm really "into it" - and LOTR), music in general, videogames,
literature, psychology, philosophy and... oh yes, soccer too.

I hope to share good and interesting ideas and thoughts here with you.

Please remind i'm italian and sometimes it's just difficlt to explain fully my ideas in english,
whih is a language i love very much but i'm not perfectly confident with.
So if some things i will write may seem "simple", well, "simply" don't flame me! :-)

-----

I saw Loz posts yesterday and I agree very much with some points, especially those regarding the
eventual Mike Lindup's next song album: i too believe Mike's talent is very high (Conversations
with Silence is a truly inspired opera, indeed) and after the excellent Changes (quite a pity it's a
not-so-known album out in the market) i expect very much from him and really hope he'll be out
soon with a new cd. I've always thought his vocal style with falsetto and normal tone mixed
together, or used separately for main theme and backgorund lines, as he did in most of is songs, is
an outstanding trademark of himself and i miss this very very much (Brasil 2000 in CWS has a
terrific-beautiful finale related to this, hasn't it?).

So i'm looking forward for Mike's works, as for the next (maybe) "Level 42 by Mark King" album,
which we can't really have any idea of what could be... early funky? pop? or...?
It will be very very interesting to hear. I think for everyone "involved" with Level 42 as a fan.

Regards,

Giando
:-)

Alex scribed thusly:

 The One
> Man mastering is absolute crap, of course, with
> clipped wave forms all over
> the place. Both are good albums, but I prefer One
> Man.

On the song "One Man," he's limited the life out of
his vocal and overdriven it into a 500 degree oven,
baking it until it's crunchy, for . . . artistic
effect?

Hi every one .I have just finished sending Carl Mueller a load of photos taken by myself during the early 1980's, in particular the Fairfield halls in 1980 and at the Woolwich coronet in 1985 (I think)
Carl has very kindly offered to put a page on forever now .com with some of the pics for all to view.
ive had many fond memories over the years, and these represent some of my own personal best moments.

On the note of concerts, did anyone go on the trip with the fan club to Frankfurt in Germany in the mid 1980's.if so I have a load of photos of the trip there and back on the coach, so if anyone would like to view them ill send some on to anyone who wants them.
Beware though, there some embarrassing ones!!!!!

Level 42 Digest for Sunday, December 12, 2004
The recent talk of solo albums made me listen to Influences again recently.  To be honest I'd forgotton how much i enjoyed it.  However, one thing intrigued me as i read the sleeve notes - as solo albums go, this doesn't read as a solo project as such, although i'm sure the drive and decisions would all have been Marks.

The reason I say this is because 2 of the tracks have lyrics written by Boon while Mike plays and sings backing vocals on the album.  Plus one track is a cover version.  With these collaborations and contributions from Mike and Boon, is it closer to a Level 42 album than a solo album?

Thoughts?
Steve
