From today's digest....

>>Given that you're talking about American sport, don't
>>you mean Champions of the World?

>>AG

It's funny with American football - the Superbowl winners always call themselves World Champs, yet the college folks call themselves National Champs - yet both are played amongst leagues comprising of U.S based teams only - go figure !.
Still, today i'm very happy. My Washington Redskins pulled ledgendary ex coach Joe Gibbs out of retirement to coach the team again. 11 years after he walked away after winning 3 SB's. The only way is up......

I can't help but smile at the irony of the latest discussions.
Ronald tosses a little pebble into the pond suggesting the e-mail
digest closes down because there are hardly and posts, and you get more
posts in the last few days than in about the last month (yes, I know
that's an exaggeration)

Personally I'm pleased the e-mail digest is here AND I enjoy the web
digest. I never look at the web summary at the bottom of this digest so
it can go for me.

>So when I listen to Conversations WS, it relaxes me.

Ms, er, um, "love", I wasn’t singling you out; I’ve
seen this mentioned in several "reviews" and it’s
generally used -but may not be in your case- by people
that do not know much, if anything about music.
It seems that most people accustomed to music with
drums (or something) see "classical" music as
"relaxing". Can’t say I understand this, since most if
not all "good" "classical" music is incredibly more
intense than the average pop tune.
These people just don’t know what to listen for.
Bach may be "relaxing" for some, to others it may
dazzle at near-headache level in the beauty and
complexity of it.
I’m pretty darn sure AG is a discerning listener and
would find the album trite. I’ve told him so
privately. I got the album the day it came out (does
that mean I’m a TRUE fan?) and gave it one spin. I
didn’t write a critical review because I do believe it
was a sincere effort on Mike’s part.
Not too mention people are gonna "love" it no matter
what.
So while the album is certainly kinda mellow, I’d
never say it was relaxing. Many parts are boring,
which may make one "relax", other parts make one
question why ML chose to go that musical route (I’m
speaking of specific phrases, notes and/or passages;
not the album or theme as a whole) or quiver at missed
opportunities with harmony.

Frankly, nothing. Twas your kinda funny opinion which
merely saw the reply form in other kinda funny
opinions of opposite view.
Granted opinions saying what a nifty place this is and
offering up, again, not much in line of conversation.
Kinda funny, too.

I'm intrigued...what abrupt breakup is the American
rap music business trying to get over?
