[AG's] constant put downs of musical taste goes beyond humour to quite
condescending comments at times.

But it's all a scam. He's pulling the wool over your eyes. It's the
classic distraction technique. I know, 'cause I personally have kept him
up to date with all North American Lighthouse Family releases. And I'm not
even going to mention his fondness for Kenny G.

I don't think I've ever known of anyone who doesn't prefer Changes over
any of Mark's solo offerings? Anyone?
<<

You rang? Changes is a good album, but it ain't got the cajones that One
Man does. Oh yeah, the Changes playing is good, and the sounds are good,
and the writing is good. But it's somehow a bit syrupy. One Man has great
playing, great sounds, some lame writing, and some great writing. The One
Man mastering is absolute crap, of course, with clipped wave forms all over
the place. Both are good albums, but I prefer One Man.

Funny you should start this thread Loz, as I asked only a few days ago about Mike's current whereabouts and activities.

Changes is without doubt the finest of the solo offerings in my collection at home.  I remember having to order the LP from HMV when it came out as they didn't have any copies in stock.  Scary to think that was 13 years ago now.  I've since bought it on CD and also the Resurgence version too.  Don't get me wrong, Influences, One Man and Trash are all worth a listen every now and again, and I'm a big fan of Boon's Tinman, but it's Mike's album that gets the nod on a more regular basis.  Track for track it's superior to the other solo albums, in my opinion.

I have to admit that I haven't bought Conversations With Silence because I honestly don't think it'd be to my liking, but a new song album from Mike - and hopefully a tour to accompany it - would be fantastic news and gratefully received.

Having just become a father, I'm sure Mike's attentions are understandably elsewhere, but from a purely selfish point of view, lets hope the experience influences Mike and inspires him to write again.

Steve

Yes I'd buy a new solo album from Mike - count me in.  The 500 Man Mike March has started.

Of course - you could pass the word to Mark - Boon, Phil and Gary as well if they're interested that my dollars are at the ready if they want to put something out.
