Not much time as I have an Ebay free listing day looming but just wanted to say great post by Loz.
It was interesting to hear you say those things and helps me understanding your more recent postings.

I don't have a problem with people not liking the current situation
I just didn't want to tune into a digest that was just full of critisism and put downs without any balance from those that didn't mind the current point at which Level 42 are.

On another note I just have to mention the new U2 album which is absolutely superb. From start to finish I can't think of another album that I have enjoyed so much for a long time. Buy it if you have even a slight liking for their type of music, it will not disappoint.

One other album I picked up recently was by Keane which is a good album too.
Hardly any bands venture to Cornwall but they actually came to Truro recently so I thought great I'll go to that. Tickets sold out in under 2 hours and the waiting list was bigger than an NHS waiting list so I missed out.
Typical.
Oh well back to my CDs and Records until the next decent band heads this way in a year or three!

cheers

Pete

The Steely Dan trade would be tough, but OK. Simpson's
references . . . well, we'd need something more in
return. How about a slow-motion audio translator for
Ricky Gervais so I can really understand everything he
brutalizes?

Or, I'd be willing to throw in my Pantera backstage
passes.

sorry about that one,
-Tom

I know that there are some people that seem quite resentful about what Mark King has done with the Level 42 name and his plans about a new album and tour next year.   Nice to know that there are a few on here that honestly state that they are a 'fair-weather' fans of the band and really claim him an 'idol' yet expect his new line-up and material to be crap - fair - BUT....

If it wasn't for Mark King being out on the road right now (still holding a L42 banner) - I highly doubt that this digest, or the web-digest, would still be here to bi#ch and moan about it.  That would have left us with just Mike Lindup's great (few) offerings (understanding his recent marriage and change of priorities) - there would be very little to talk about!  You might not like the direction he is going with Level 42, but I do not see any other motivations by the former members to produce anything on a 'semi-reliable' basis, that's fine that they want to drop their Level 42 image and go another direction, but Mark has stayed the Level 42 course and for that we should be thankful that we get anything at all - for those who have missed the orginal line-up of the 80-90's - it is giving them a second chance to see what it might have been like.

I have been hard on MK in the past, sometimes I think he should do other things, but I still support the guy and really hope he and this new version of Level 42 have some minor success again, or at least make an album they and the 'fans' like and they enjoy doing the limited touring they have done - to me - that is enough!

format. If so, i've never seen a copy. If memory serves, its a 5 song
compilation pf music videos, right?<<

Yep. It contained Lessons In Love, Something About You, Leaving Me Now, Hot Water, and The Sun Goes Down (Living It Up). Like I said in an earlier post, there's nothing new or unusual here. But it'd be nice to have since I own all the other officially released VHS tapes.

>>On another note, i did recently see that Tower records in Manhattan is stocking
the cd and dvd versions of 'The Collection', for a decent price as well.<<

As far as I can tell, this is just a compilation of the videos from LEVEL BEST and some of the documentary footage from FAIT ACCOMPLI. Anyone here who owns a copy that could shed some light on this? Was there anything else of note- Easter eggs or the like?

Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
Steely Dan - Aja
Jason Rebello - Keeping Time

All indisputably (if you don't believe me ask around)
exceptional albums. Let me know how you get on with
them. (Hmm, why do I feel I may be in for a wait...)
