Dear all

Great news to hear of the re-union, I could hardly believe it when I read it on Boons site!  I guess the writing has been on the wall for some time, e.g. all the re-releases, which has proved that their music is still fondly remembered and loved by the masses!  Perhaps they were also the financial grounding for this too?  It's the masses that need to be won over in order for any album to be a commercial success.  I just hope that they invest in advertising properly, unlike MK's solo tour efforts and Eagles release of One Man!

I cannot express how happy I am that these guys are going back into writing together again!  I'm sure that the combined effort will yield a fantastic album!  Most of the failures I believe, can be attributed to record company fiddling - especially Guaranteed! - But even that, had some excellent B-sides which should have been on the album IMHO, rather than THE APE!  ;)  FN - how many versions of that before we got the version the guys would have wanted to put out?!

I am guessing here, but since home recording has become so cheap, it may be that they chose to do the album in a home studio - e.g. Boons?  I know that in the time around SITL , they had a pretty good work ethic towards writing, it was like going to work and doing a job, rehearsing in London.  Maybe someone of influence can beg steal or borrow some working demo's or snippets?  Another nice thing would be to get a band diary for the web going?!  Loz, give it all you've got man!  :)

Phil is a prolific writer, and I look forward to hearing his thoughts - we're all older and hopefully more mature, so I'm sure his content will have gotten even better with age!  This is what I find so annoying about the solo efforts.  You can clearly hear all the different flavours that each member contributes in their solo work, which has no doubt helped to ripen it.  Coming together now, will I'm sure prove to be a really great thing!  What made L42 so unique was all those different flavours in the pot, that's what made it all work!  You take some away, and it just isn't the same!  Undoubteldy, Phil is a real man of funk, and I don't mean commercial funk like JK - I mean real funk, like Curtis Mayfield!  And his lyrics are so deep - what a talent!  Ooh, I can't wait!

All the best

Dave

4.  You have been officially cautioned...

I think I speak for the true L42 realist out there when I say "I WILL BELIEVE IT WHEN I HAVE THE CD IN HAND!"  We have heard this all before and nothing, do not think I am not slightly 'happy' about the news - just cautious - as I have come to learn that as a fan of this band - proof is in the pudding!  Actions (and a CD) speak louder than a website announcement!  Just a fair warning before some members on here start to even speculate on what will or will not be on this "yet to be released" album!

I URGE EXTREME CAUTION!

and if Mark and Phil will come to blows! Place your bets.... ;o)
<<

I put my money on big fights. Huge blow-outs. Massive battles of wills.
And, since they've had years to mature and ponder life, I also think
they'll stick it out and pull off a complete album. Remember that Mike and
Wally will be there to keep Mark and Phil from getting too extreme, and
Boon seems like the perfect buffer--brother to one, good friend to the
other.

But (and this is an oh-so-subtle cue for Mark) if Phil pulls out at any
point, I could make myself available. Y'know, if they need a
groove-meister behind the kit.

RE- JT and any other muppet

You make me laugh so much thank you.
Keep it up please.
Try to be more like me and the true Level fans, then you wont seem so bitter
twisted and foolish.

I suppose you have to do something now youve been proved wrong and Mark isnt
the bad guy you want him to be.

Why cant you have your own personality instead of trying to copy AG.

Now all we need is a great album from Level 42 and all you moaners will be
put into hiding for good.

As for the investment tip you wanted try Pace Micro, You will find im right
on that aswell.

>Who was “wrong about Mark”? Obviously MK wants the
>most money he can get (obviously he DOESN’T want the
>best band he can get…),

What else can mark do? Phil is not interested in
touring, Mike is involved with da lata, etc and
Boon has his own projects.

Surely this way u get the best of both worlds - u
get the original members creating new material and
the current lineup promoting it - whats wrong with
that JT? - it seems some folk are never happy.

So what if its about money? - mark is only supplying
the market and from reading posts, etc the majority
appear to like this idea.

We should reserve judgement on this until the new
album has been released.

A highly respected digester mentioned (e-mailed) me today - basically saying  how most webmasters of the official website's did not even know about this news - I mean it was GREAT of Boon (AND LARS) to share this information (which lends some credibility to this finally - rather than people throwing around rumours and speculation of all sorts for the past few weeks)  I mean, a short mention on L42.com would have seemed appropriate!   Forgive me though - if I am not jumping for joy at the moment.   I will be the first to "eat some southern crow" when I have this "new - yet to be named" disc in my hands and reading the critiques of the album on this forum the day after it is released.   Honestly though - I hope that Mark, Phil, Mike, and Boon (as well as Wally and Julian) can find that magic one again - or at least some sort of peace and happiness - after reading some Phil and Boon Q&A's not having the record companies around this time - may lend itself to the album they always wanted to make - but were never allowed commercially to make!  Fingers crossed!

Don, Mark was asked that question on the show 'Heeren Van Amstel', And replied that the Roman Polanski film has nothing to do with the Song, as he hadn't even heard of the film. And prob the lyrics were Written by Boon, right.

JT..were u perhaps a little harsh in your response yesterday? :-) And why is it folks keep going back to MARK being some money Hungry guy? Do you all think that everything he does is predicated On making quick cash? I don't get the impression this guy is hurting For money anyhow, and why should we begrudge any artist the Ability to generate revenue?

Maybe some of you have some info the rest of us don't, but it gets Tiring to listen to people make these statements all the time, as if They are in on the decision making process for this band.

I look forward to hearing whatever these guys come up with, assuming They don't have any pressure to fit the project into some record company Mold.
