wow. that's what I call a topic! couldn't agree more.
my current favourite (they change all the times) is
from "good man in a storm":
"it sometimes scares me, the further we go
just how much we understand, just how much we know
but whatever happens in our hearts
we're making perfect sense of life, but still remain so far apart"

For info,

The full version of Standing In The Light does NOT appear in the reissues. The reissue includes the extended version of the song that appeared on the original album. To find the full, original song as the band intended it, you have to get hold of 'On The Level' - it's only found there.

I remember reading that the band were surprised by the harshness of the editing on the entire album when they heard the final cut - maybe they were just referring to SITL or perhaps other things also.

For me, it makes a massive difference to the song without the inclusion of that verse and I don't listen to the edited (album) version. It seems that a majority of 'On The Level' CDs become unplayable after a few years (mine's still OK) so someone with some clout should persuade Polydor to include the full version on the next compilation.
