| --Stephen.Whyte >Mike has been delaying the release of Conversations >With Silence for some >time now, mainly because he's been trying to secure >the release through an >independant label. Does anyone know how this is >progressing, or does the >recent announcement mean there will be a further >delay until after the >summer? Good question. Now that Mike has had a few weeks (months?) of Newlywededness, and now has plans to work within L42 again, hopefully this will be put on the front burner, as a potential L42 project may/will take some time. Someone on the WebList saw that the producer stated that the album was indeed complete, but no other news has surfaced. >And for what it's worth, I believe that if it wasn't >for our two initialled >posters then sadly this digest would rapidly become a >mundane experience. >Keep it up, guys. Nice to hear (so to speak), as I said before, I don’t/didn’t feel I was interrupting some fantastic ongoings here, those who don’t understand that the reading of every post is not mandatory, or have yet to grasp the concept of “scroll down” (and/or basic literary usages) seem to feel offended for some reason. --Michael Monsen > does that make me loyal? >Perhaps I am jaded, but I like to consider myself a realist. Welcome to the club. And here we don’t need some classification level of “fan”, so don’t sweat it. >The news that they are in the studio working on a new >album is certainly welcome news to me. At this point there are no reports that they are “in the studio”, just an announcement by 1/4 of the group (the non-Touring group, that is) that there will be some writing going on. So we’ll wait and see. Or not. >To be honest, my quality of life will not be affected >if a new album is not released before I die. If a >new CD is released, great! If not, I'm not any worse >off than I am now. Very nicely put. While music is a pretty nifty thing to help one through this life-thing, it is hardly a driving force or a need. >I will now don my asbestos suit. Flame away Nothing herein to flame, although you may achieve “not true fan” status. Which surely should be a compliment, considering the sources and qualification of those-whom-love-adjectives. Since I joined the digest in '98, I've lost count of the number of times the whole "what is a loyal/true/hardcore" fan debate has been raised. I think it's only surpassed by the number of people who have asked what Mark is saying at the end of the SAY video. But maybe someone can back me up here. I vaguely remember reading an small article in a newspaper a number of years back about a man who had changed his name by depoll to John (insert every L42 album title and band member names) Smith. You can forget about your DAZZ4 and yellow vinyl, cos I think I've found the true meaning of a fan... right? *************************************************************************** This email is confidential and may well also be legally privileged. | Thanks for the compliment first of all. About the last bit, I hope they manage to achieve the best of both worlds, i.e., critical acclaim mixed in with a chunk of commercial success. It would make sense for everyone and hopefully keep a happy balance about the outcome of the project. But, my guess would be, the first sign of anyone saying: "Right then lads, here's the video concept for the first single release. We're goanna revisit the 'Something about you' imagery where Mark's done up in the clown makeup..." Will see Phil out the door faster than you can say "renegotiate the royalty split". But there's enough collective water under the bridge for them to know each others limitations within the "music business" side of this prospective collaboration. Oh yes, I was out on my release date in an earlier post about Rush's "Signals" album, which was actually September 1982 rather than sometime in '83, so Phil & Co. could have well got an advanced hearing of it and a bit of inspiration - not that it matters anyway. thedrumdoctor | ||
