1.  define "setback"

Curious finding here, on Mike Lindup’s website, within
the guestbook, someone asked him why he announces
nothing about the potential original 42 ala Boon’s
site. Here’s ML’s reply:

“Reason is that I didn't want to announce anything
before it was real and happening. At the time of me
writng this reply, there has been a setback, so all I
will say is watch this space for more news. Mike
Time added: July 23 2003 at 12:49:24”

Needless to say this “setback” could be pondered and
speculated in a WIDE variety of ways…

This may have been discussed before, but something occured to me whilst
watching the "Ultimate Collection" dvd the other day.

Considering how popular the "World Machine" album was, why were there only
2 singles lifted from it? "Lessons In Love" was released only 8 months or
so after "Leaving Me Now", and it preceeded the RITF single and album by
about a year.

What would have been the third single off WM, considering of course "World
Machine" itself was released as a single in the US? Would it have been the
same in the UK for example, or was it going to be "I Sleep On My Heart"?
Was it generally agreed upon that LIL was superior to anything else on the
WM album? Was the hasty decision to release LIL, rather than a third track
from WM, based purely upon the desire to continue riding the wave of
success the band were enjoying throughout '85 and '86? And was this a
record company decision or one made by the band? And does the fact that
"Lessons In Love" was released in a hurry have anything to do with the god
awful video that accompanied it?

Oh so many questions - and I've probably answered most of them myself
anyway - but c'mon people, bombard me with your wonderful insight and
opinions. I'm off on holiday for a week, so I look forward to reading any
replies upon my return.

Steve
