I don't think L42's non-appearance at Live Aid was due to them not being
'big enough.' Perhaps I'm wrong, but I'm sure I remember reading that they
had touring commitments already, and were unable to get out of it.

Level 42 were invited to perform for Live Aid in the initial stages but as
bigger, more well known bands offered their services Level 42 were pushed
out.

Can anyone tell me where I can get a poster(s) of mark king slapping his
bass, live shot preferably. I have a large space on my bedroom wall,
longing to be filled (with my hero)(hubby unimpressed though!).

Any help would be appreciated.
Debbie

Hello all nice to be here in Level Land

AG I agree some of the topics leave alot to be desired however you have used examples from the "Off Topic Board" anything (within reason I would think) can be discussed there there have been some very interesting and lively discussions on the L42 board

Speaking of Live Aid, what about Band Aid? I don't recall the exact
year that Band Aid recorded "Do They Know Its Christmas" (aka Feed The
World), but it was early-to-mid 80's. In addition to the big headliners
on that track (U2, Sting, etc.), there were definitely a number of smaller
Brit acts. Plus, given that Midge Ure put it together, its surprising
that MK and/or Level 42 weren't part of it. I remember that at the time
this came out, it sort of served as a "who's who" of the 80's bands that I
was into at the time. Any thoughts as to why Level 42 weren't part of it?

cheers,
Eric

Hey, Flint, glad you could make it to the party! But you seem a little
more coherent than usual. Have the amphetamines worn off so soon?

Well said. _Trash_ was fine for what it was--unpolished bones thrown to us
drooling fans--but given the opportunity to influence the direction, I
would encourage Mark and co. to give birth to the spawn of _One Man_ and
_Forever Now_.

I have filters up the yin/yang going on around here which prevent me from
sending anything other than straight-ahead text. To get around the
problems, I just cut and paste digitally (i.e., I use my digits) and do it
all the long way.

Yes true but if Live Aid was in say 86 instead of 85 they could have been asked by Midge Ure as Mark did play on his LP The Gift. I've often wondered that if they actually appeared at Live Aid would they have been more successful thereafter? Who knows...

I'm experimenting with some new software that generates online crosswords.  Please try this Level 42-themed prototype, and let me know if you have any problems.

I know this one is a bit large for users with small monitors, so you may have to do some scrolling.  To make getting to the clues easier, just left-click on a box and the clue will be highlighted automatically.  Right-click to switch between verical and horizontal words.

Cheers - Z.
