| <tim and sarah hardwicke> unto us did spake: > Did anyone feel the ending at cambrige was weird <snip> Yeah, I'm right with you there. Just a kind of wave as they headed off with the spots still doing their thing and what turned out to be the "outro" sounds playing. They didn't take a bow did they? - I don't remember it. They seemed to get their act together on this front for the Ipswich gig. They were an increadibly tight and together unit on both nights. Nothing less then usual then! Cheers, Mark | ||

| On Sunday, October 19, 2003, Mr Goodwin said... "...neither own a mobile phone, nor drive, nor drink alcohol." So, come December 1st 2003 you're not likely to be arrested in your car, sh*t faced trying to get through to the Level 42 2004 Supernova Cataclysm Tour ticket hotline then, are you. Funny you should mention the alcohol thing though Andrew. I too do not take Satan's Urine, but I do find that this now gets less quizzical looks when announced than not owning an Anti-social (non)communication device. It generally goes like this... "I don't drink alcohol"..."You don't? Well done you" "I don't own a mobile 'phone"..."What! Are you brain dead? Did technology pass you by...blah, blah, waffle, waffle" And can someone please explain to me the point of being able to see goals on a mobile 'phone? I support two teams and go to as many matches as I can of both, but I can truly say I would never have the desire to "watch" them on a 3 x 2cm screen? And why would I want to watch the goals of teams I do not support? Why do we need this? Are there subliminal messages in there? Is there a conspiracy afoot? Sorry to let the side down though Andrew, I do drive (well, I do need one vice - see Web Digest "buzz" thread) and it helps keep my matrimonial state happy (long story). Marc Alcoholic Texting Speed Freaks (TM) - I think it makes a good band name ( reminiscent of Gay Bikers on Acid ) so if you want it, you'll have to buy it from me. | ||

| (forwarded from Iain....) -----Original Message----- From: Whatmore, Iain [mailto:iain.whatmore @ genzyme.com] Sent: Monday, October 20, 2003 6:00 AM Subject: cambridge My friend and I were also at the cambridge concert and were stood at the front. Mark seemed that he didnt really want to be there. We were hoping that Mark would have finished the song that he started but it wasn't to be??? All in all though the concert was excellent I felt and the choice of songs was good. | ||

| Well, great gig at Cambridge Corn Exchange Saturday. I will not spoil it here for folks that have yet to go the one of the gigs on the tour, only to say that the setlist does include the expected and the unexpected - Mark has gone back to Ashdown amps too. One thing I did notice is that Nathan sang most of Mike's part's instead of Lyndon this time. Also Mark forgot some lyrics during SUN GOES DOWN, and also forgot what album one of the songs came from. Mark didn't mention anything about coming back next year - still let's hope he does, and that some new material will surface too. I picked up a great sweatshirt for only £10.00 too, which seems like a fair price to me. On another note, does anyone here have any inside info from RCA/BMG about possible Guaranteed and Forever Now re-issues.? The last I heard was end of 2003 but that seems unlikely now. cheers Dean | ||

I doubt it was deliberate, but what a fantastic > piece of minimalist > humour. I knew I wouldn't get off the hook for THAT one. I feel like a 'real' member of the digest now that AG has quoted my post. Here is the text of my original email (I hope): Hey y'all... I'll continue the ball that Lolita started by chiming in on the bands that I sing with. I'm the lead singer for a cover band that DOES do weddings. Yes, I AM the wedding singer that Lolita doesn't want to be. We do the usual disco, but we also specialize in Mexican music with cumbias and rancheras. I refuse to sing, "I Will Survive" though. BUT I also sit in with a band I used to be in that does old Soul music and a little acid jazz like BNH's, "Brother Sister." With them, I also sing songs like, "Heard it Through the Grapevine" (Gladys Knight vers.), "You Got the Love" by Rufus and MJ's "Workin' Day and Night." From time to time, I sing backup for other artists around Hollywood and the South Bay (LA) that do Pop and even Rock en Espanol. Oh yeah, and I also sing co-lead and harmony vocals in my MOM's band, Gwen Cardenas and Kin (http://artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/Gwen_Cardenas__Kin/) which does original music that compares to the style of Basia. I think that's it. ;) Angel | ||

| If I'm not mistaken, a while back people were singing the praises here of Francis Dunnery. I just discovered that he recently made an album with Chris Difford, and I'm just wondering whether anyone has heard that album and could offer an opinion? | With the long list I posted yesterday, I knew I was bound to forget one: 11) How did 'Heart On The Line' (on the 'Love In A Peaceful World' CD single) become 'Heart On The Line (Skeletal)' on the Resurgence version of FOREVER NOW? I don't see anything in the lyrics that would indicate the sub-title. Looking at "Matt's Level 42 CD Singles page (linked on forevernow.com), I see that there was in fact a two part release of 'All Over You', as well as a Part 2 to the 'Love In A Peaceful World' single. So question #6 is pretty much answered (unless anyone has additional info, in which case I'd love to read it!).
