Hi

Can anyone make any sense at all of the ramblings of jt.
Is he for real, on drugs or on another planet!!

It's not that I disagree with his opinion or his right to share it. It's that I can't understand hardly a darn thing he is on about.
The bits I can make out, it seems he is stirring up something to do with gays or drug users (interesting example jt!!)
I actually have friends who are both and had plenty of drug users and pushers in the Church I attend over the years.
So then jt, what's your game. Your trying to make me into something I'm not and are writing plenty of assumptions about me when you don't have a clue.

As for the not knowing how to debate, at least I post in sentences that are readable and have a meaning instead of the garbled nonsense you post.

By the way, being a Christian doesn't mean I can't express an opinion or tell someone if I think they are talking nonsense.
A Wimp I ain't and if you want to continue with your abuse then you know my email address. Fire away buddy.

If I ever needed convincing that the music in the US Charts is total and utter CRAP and why I cling to the 80-90's music, here is the top 10 list for the US this week, who are some of these people?   We have hit, I think, the lowest point in the US music industry,  I wish a music revolution would happen and soon - all of this current music is full of curses, hate, division, and nothing but computer generated beats and scratches covering songs that should be left alone - surely it can get better than this! (Gosh, I am sounding like my parents now!)

US Billboard Top Ten singles (week ending 10-04-2003)
1. Baby Boy: Beyonce Featuring Sean Paul
2. Shake Ya Tailfeather: Nelly, P Diddy & Murphy Lee
3. Get Low: Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz Featuring Ying Yang Twins
4. Right Thurr: Chingy
5. Frontin': Pharrell Featuring Jay-Z
6. Damn!: YoungBloodZ Featuring Lil Jon
7. P.I.M.P.: 50 Cent
8. Into You: Fabolous Featuring Tamia/Ashanti
9. Stand Up: Ludacris Featuring Shawnna
10. Where Is The Love?: Black Eyed Peas

Well, a limited take up of the Topics for Discussion:

1) If there is a God why does he let so many terrible things happen?

Well, this one got pretty much the expected response, namely evidence that
opinion and belief can be assumed as solipsistic 'knowledge' by either end
of the spectrum. It's always been a fun pastime for those sat in the
blissful middle of informed uncertainty to see the vitriolic ends
practically join up.

2) Manufactured bands – they’re not so bad.

This was prompted by a youthful colleague who can get all but hydrophobic at
the mention of the name Busted. Watching TMF one night it occurred to me
that the path from Busted to one of his favourites, Good Charlotte, is a
really rather short one in the grand scheme of trivial music.

3) The United States – global liberator or burgeoning fascist state imposing
its values on an unwilling world by force?

No takers here, alas. Maybe we've all been down that anti-American route
once too often for it to be fun any more. Personally, I am bemused by the
way that America seems to foment such charming individuals - far more
charming than the English, and of course I include myself amongst my
countrymen here - while their nation rampages around the globe stamping on
anything which gets in its way. Maybe your bitter, twisted years will come
along in about a hundred years time when, like us, you can look back on what
once was.

4) Singing along at concerts is a great idea which really enhances other
fans’ enjoyment.

People who sing along at concerts? See point 10, dogs, below.

5) Avril Lavigne – chirpy teenage poppet or spawn of Satan?

Obviously there was just consensus on this one.

6) Mobile phones are a symptom of a modern era of hedonistic instantaneous
gratification which is causing a breakdown of values in youth today.

Must be just me that hates then then.

7) Jennifer Lopez – I would, wouldn’t you?

I must say I was disappointed that nobody offered their response to this
most philosophical of questions. I was particularly looking forward to
Nathania's take on it.

8) If boxing has weight divisions, why doesn’t basketball have height
divisions?

Not only is basketball the most tedious, pointless,
you-score-then-I'll-score excuse for a sport ever invented, it's limited to
physical freaks! Mystifying.

9) Since language has no inherent meaning all communication is basically
fraudulent, and as a result we are all destined to a life of worthless
misunderstanding and will die alone and unfulfilled.

I was hoping for Anthony Kay to weigh in with his perspective on Jacques
Derrida's bleak semantic premise, but it seems I will just have to make do
with AK's handy alerts to TV programmes which have already been on.

10) Dogs should all be exterminated.

Yes, they should. And I would personally volunteer for the job, with a
handgun to the head. I'd start with stupid yappy dogs and dogs which
intimidate small children in parks. Actually I'd start with Rottweilers and
Pit Bulls, basically any dog used as a penis extension. Then the yappy and
football-bursting. If you tell me it's the fault not of the dogs but of the
owners, I would be more than happy for them to accompany man's best friend
on his final journey.

5.  The Problem With Music -- an article by Steve Albini

Moving on, here's a good article written by Steve Albini, who (among other things) produced
Nirvana's "In Utero" album.  Its a bit long in the tooth, but talks about the process by which
bands get signed and the typical financials involved.  All weighted very heavily against the
musicians themselves, in favor of the record co's.
