Kindly be advised that the mirror’s reflection can be
quite brilliant:
Idiot:
b. A term of reprobation for one who speaks or acts in
an irrational way, or with extreme stupidity or folly;
a blockhead, an utter fool. (OED)

Who was “wrong about Mark”? Obviously MK wants the
most money he can get (obviously he DOESN’T want the
best band he can get…), which probably lays in the
involvement of _at least_ Mike Lindup; MK didn’t fire
these guys, everyone walked away. Just as these guys
decided to give working together another try. Don’t
give MK so much gawdamn credit…
(also, a semi-recent post from Mike(y) states that
Jakko wrote that MK was (at that time) against some
form of "reunion", so get yer act together...and who
are you callin' "old"?)

Your ability to predict a possibility is astounding,
got any good investment tips?

By the way, your significant other must be very
pleased with your ecstatic ability to premature
ejaculate. You must be proud, and a firm believer in a
box of tissue by the bed and/or keyboard.

> Boon and Phil don't want to tour but there's a good

> for Level again, are you listening this time!

Wie, bitte?
I don’t recall, granted early onset Alzheimer’s may be
kicking in, anyone completely bunking the possibility.
Everything is written on the wind, the chances seemed
slim, that’s all. Bottom line is money, and everyone
reacts to that magnet; which is why nearly every group
that could reform has. Robert Plant wanted nothing to
do with Jimmy Page, low and behold, solo Pant isn’t
selling enough to do Coke commercials anymore: enter
Jimmy Page and Led Zep tunes. JoeWalsh/Glen Frey, etc.

If people stopped buying the utter crap Mr. Sting
offers for music, then sales will slide and he’ll run
back to Stu and Andy.
Logic.

Eric Johnson

How can there not be?

> am sure it will be

Um, money?

As always, realistically,

under the Level 42 name, so I know I'll be in heaven!"

I'm probably a purist (although I don't really subscribe to being
a "moaning old idiot"). and as such I do get too exicted. yes,
it's been a heck of a long time, but the fact that phil is on warrants
a careful balance between the level roots and current influences.
phil, to me, comes across with loads of integrity. the energy between
him and mark has led to very creative results over the years.

I agree that guaranteed was not a hit, but feel that forever now
is a good evidence that the four originals have more to give.

therefore, I am more excited than I thought was possible.
this was a VERY good start of the week!

Hi Folks,

Maria from Germany here, can´t believe what I have read on Carl´s webside. Level 42 together in the old formation ????????????? With a new album???? WOW..fantastic...Mark told me he´s working on it, but I never thought they would get together again...

I´m gonna go to see them in Münster again and one week later in Denmark. Can´t wait!! I think the guys doing their work fantastic but the old formation on tour would be phenomenal and marvelous....

I was pleased to hear Boon's news that the ORIGINAL Level 42 line up will
be back in the studio! I only hope they don't pull a Duran Duran on us and
take 3 years to produce an original line up album...

In the mean time, I have finally ordered the "Live At Wembley" video. I had
trouble finding it for years, and it comes in and out of print all the time.
I can't wait until it arrives! Is it good?

Checked out the Boon site, and either hackers have got in and defaced the
web page or, it is indeed true. The gigging would be a push though, if it
gets as far as a finished studio product, though nobody really thought we'd
see the light of day about them doing studio work again so who knows? One
thing's for certain, there's no record company axe to grind this time with
no pressure to shift units within a fiscal trading year. Maybe the lads can
just take their time and do a release on their own terms, both musically and
business-wise. No doubt it could be done on their own label and would sell
like hotcakes, just out of curiosity by old fans (no cynicism intended
there). Mick Hucknall's done the same thing with the last Simply Red album -
no major label backing and a slot in the album charts = maximum returns.

It would be nice to see the whole thing done on THEIR own terms, including
any shows. Just think, this could be the first Level 42 collaboration done
under zero pressure. Just hope it doesn't go "Police reunion" pear shaped.
At the end of the day though, any one of them could walk away from the
sessions at any time, without having lost anything. There's no heavy careers
on the line here.

All fingers crossed, having eaten my previous postings published words....

I was puzzled to see an e-mail in my box today from Amazon.com, with the subject line "Save 25% on "Bitter Moon" on DVD".  Upon reading it, however, I discovered that it wasn't Mark King related at all, but rather Roman Polanski's film Bitter Moon.  Unless I'm mistaken, isn't this where Mark got his inspiration?

Bitter Moon
List Price: $19.98
Price: $14.99
You Save: $4.99(25%)

Release Date: June 3, 2003
Rated: R; Region 1 encoding (US and Canada only)

Description
A comtemporary drama about an American in Paris who falls in love with a young French woman and how their relationship deteriorates into sexual extremes.

As for the news about the original line-up working together in the studio, well...I'm astonished and intrigued to learn that they actually will be recording together and not just writing.  It will be very interesting indeed to see if they still have the old chemistry...and if Mark and Phil will come to blows!  Place your bets.... ;o)

Cheers  -  Z.

So we have a new era and at last we can truly say that Level 42 are back, we will hear a new Level 42 album again - there can't be many of us who actually believed that - I didn't.

But some of us never gave up hope. I myself harped on considerably about how only with the inclusion of Phil could we ever hope to hear new music of which we might be able to say 'yup - that's Level 42 at their best'. Of course, that wasn't true - Mark, Mike and Boon are perfectly capable, but Phil adds the magic dust which brings everything to life.

As many of you know - I exist for Level 42. I always thought of the digest as basically a pressure group to try and bring about 'the reformation'. What will happen to it now?

But at the moment what we know is skethcy at best. Some things we can say for sure, some things only guess. For sure we don't have a situation where Mike, Phil and Boon are helping Mark out - I don't think any of the 4 want that anyway. I suspect for all intents and purposes we can assume they're starting from scratch, it's their album. Will they try and get an album deal? Who knows - probably. Will they release singles and go for major chart success? It probably depends how enthusiastic a record company is. I suspect, no. If Mike's singing half the vocals you can't do promo without him. Anyway - who cares. I just want one copy for me.

You can take some alphabeti spaghetti, arrange it into the words 'living in the past' add lashings of ketchup, and eat it.

Yes, those of us for whom the original line-up was far superior to anything
that followed (for I presume we are the 'stuck in the past' 'moaning old
idiots') are obviously going to be disappointed by the news that the
original line-up will be writing together. I for one will only be happy if
Phil Gould slims right down again and Mike Lindup grows a big afro. Anything
else would be a betrayal of the cherished Level 42 I hold encased in mental
aspic.

It may end up sounding like Guaranteed, although I find that highly
unlikely. Worse than Guaranteed? That's like infinity plus one.

It will be interesting to see what comes forth. Assuming attempts at world
domination are in the past and they acknowledge that they're largely
preaching to the converted, we could end up with the album they should have
made instead of Running In The Family. Best part of 20 years late, but it
would be nice all the same.
