Has anyone here bought Madonna's new album ?
The single is awful and i've read mixed reviews, but wondered if anyone here
had taken the plunge.

cheers

John Walsh srote:
"Hi y'all
has anyone got the jam with MK/topper headon from radio one (circa1986) that lisa devlin had on her site (sadly now defunct) I dont have a copy any more and it was really really cool "

john, and others interested, I think I can find it.

Ok, now the webdigest is closed for a few days I will update some people about the festival.
Hmmm, what can I say, I had a great time although the sound wasn't too well and the band had a few problems aspecially Nathan, Sean and Lyndon.
I think something went wrong with Sean's microphone and Nathan had problems with getting his guitarsound out of the boxes. But the guys only had a little time to do their soundcheck. The sound was too loud all evening. Level 42 came on stage after 1 o'clock wich was 1 hour later then they suppost too. Gary was amasing like always and had a drums, all the guys where great.
The setlist was the same as last tour 02 - started with almost there, but to be with you again, seven days, hot water and the chinese way where left out. Mark ended this gig with Mr pink, wich was great ofcourse. Some people where throwing with beer and half a pint ended on some other people wich gave some funny reactions. But I must say I had a really great time and it was nice to see the band again.

> So, in essence, there are times when two drummers
> working together CAN work.

Excellent examples, Terry. Yes, clearly 2 drummers can
work well together. Be it gits like Tommy Lee (who
could probably use some assistance), to proven vets
like Chester Thompson, who could blow Phil Collins
away, if need be (has PC recorded a decent drum track
since Brand X?).
And outstanding job with taking it back to the old
drum-duel days; essential history in the lore of
hittin' the skins.

This raises, albeit highly hypothetical, some
interesting ponderings.
_IF_ MK is to pursue a studio recording under the
banner of L42, without the inclusion of ML, let alone
'the twins'...what will it be like (?).

Judging on solo MK is a bit different since there is a
span of 15-ish years between the first and then the
later 2, both of which are quite different from each
other.
With the L42 name, will MK (etc) try to stick to the
mold of the past; extended harmonys/backing vocals
(usually provided by Mr. Lindup), keyboard lines that
quite often mimic the bass line (sadly), minimal (if
any) guitar solos. etc.
It's kinda dangerous either way -alienate fans who
have no ability to change and expect, basically, the
same slop over and over, or - have very subpar backing
vocals with not great key playing.
So, speculation throws it all back to the more
probable situation: there wont be any new album...
...unless after a year or so of Newlywedness ML gets
tired of it and needs something to do and MK, at this
point finishing up "The Collection Tour" decides
(since we still are uncertain who is the chief behind
all these power-games) that things are a bit
(understatement) mo' betta' with ML.

etc,
j

6 - Level 42 Forum (Take 2)
From: level42 @ jamesrsutton.com <level42 @ jamesrsutton.com>

Greetings everyone,

My name is James Sutton, a digest member since 1997. As of the past couple
of years I've been more of a lurker than anything else. But I do like to
keep up with both the Digest and the Web Digest as much as possible.

Over a year ago I opened level42forum.com, another discussion board
dedicated to Level 42 and related topics. I was (and still am) very
frustrated with the grade school antics of a few of the Web Digest members.
People that seem to think the internet is different from real life and are
free to insult and disrespect people from behind their keyboard. So rather
than complain about it, I decided to start my own forum and run a much
"tighter ship". After a month or two of having it up, I had to take both my
Level 42 and Rush forums down due to personal reasons and a lack of time to
maintain them properly.

Well now that life is a lot better for me and my relocation to Baltimore,
MD is over, I've decided to give it another go. (I'd like to mention that
my Rush forum has been such a pleasure recently. The active members for the
most part are nothing but mature, intelligent people celebrating Rush. It's
a rare occasion that I ever have to delete a post, ban a member or give
somebody the "grow up or else" warning. It has proved to me that there are
actually people out there who know how to use the internet! Go figure.) If
you decide you'd like to sign up, the URL is still
http://www.level42forum.com I'd like to point some things out right up
front...

Please read the agreement letter carefully when you register. There are
three of the ten "rules" I want to stress: #1. Tact and common sense should
be used at all times, #2. Please keep the idea of "quality over quantity"
in mind when posting, and #7. Keep the thread topic in mind when posting.
I'm a nice guy until I have reason to not be.

I'm using the the Perl version of YaBB so most of you Web Digest members
will feel pretty comfortable with how the forum works. In regards to
avatars, you're welcome to use one of the album covers I have available in
the profile settings or you can email me your image and I'll set it up for
you.

I did not put this forum up to step on any toes. I know that Dan is dealing
with serving the Web Digest from his home and I know first hand what a pain
in the butt that can be. So you can view my forum as just an alternative,
not a replacement.

I appreciate your time and please email me privately at
james @ jamesrsutton.com if you have any questions or comments regarding the
forum,

James

Since I'm a member of dutch mixfreaks mailing list I get to hear these
things first. All I can say it's a VERY good combimix.
Love games at Sunrise you can download an MP3 here

http://pieter.mixfreaks.org and got to "My Mixes"

This guy made some very good mixes in the past with as an absolute
highlight his Mission impossible mix A record-breaking mix, containing
622 tracks in 1 hour, made in an attempt to establish an official world-record
If you get the change listen to that as well. OH don't forget to sign
his guestbook.

Enjoy, Ronald

And, the lowest video moment for L42. there's a
thread, perhaps - what is the most embarassing L42
video moment? It could be a scene or a passage. I
would nominate the entire Coup de Etat video - so
heavily "symbolic" and "metaphorical" in that eighties
way.

I'm pretty sure Coup d'Etat did not have a video.  Are you thinking of The Chant Has Begun?
