Speaking of foks' top 20 artists.....I know it's been done before on here,
but I always like seeing what other artists people are into. In no
particular order, here are mine......

Level 42/Lindup/King etc...
Bruce Hornsby
Crowded House/Neil Finn
George Benson
Will Downing
Luther Vandross
Jan Hammer
James Taylor
Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits
Jamiroquai
Simply Red
Oasis
Rolling Stones
Beatles
Brand New Heavies
Stevie Wonder
Phil Collins/Genesis
Miles Davis
Duran Duran
Elvis

Quite some variety there huh ?

Best
Dean

P.S Neil Finn is a lyrical genius, no other artist for me can hold a
candle to his beautiful tales of lost love and self doubt.

Did anyone see Soccer AM on Skysports on Saturday? I had just turned the TV and was drinking my first cup of tea for the day when Helen Chamberlain AKA Hells Bells read out a request from a Level 42 fan for Soccer AM to play a L42 song whilst showing the goals for the weekend.

She then went on to hum Something About You if I remember correctly and said she would see what she could do.

I have copied SoccerAM into this email as I think this is a great idea - I'm not sure what song would be best to show the goals to -my suggestion would be Hot Water or Heaven in My Hands.

I have therefore decided to start a Get a Level 42 song campaign on Soccer AM - if you want to join me - please email the show at Socceram @ bskyb.com with your suggestions and you never know, this Saturday our wishes could come true. I will of course be watching so for those people who do not have Sky - I will of course keep you informed how the campaign is going.

"Livin' it up - I can't feel it!"

Kind regards to you all,

Steve Dabbs

Is there anyone on the Digest that's in touch with Mark, to let him know what a good idea an acoustic set would be for the upcoming fall tour? Word up...

Answers on a postcard please...

In response to Eric J. Hansen: "How cool would it be to learn that a substantial of other Level 42 fans are also into band _____?"

I have pretty eclectic taste in music and it's nice to see what other 42 fans like. I think this is a great idea. Thanks Eric. So outside of the Level 42 and related projects, here's what I enjoy (in random order):

5.  '20' lists galore
From: Eric J. Hansen <ehansen @ worldmachine.com>

Of the '20' lists just mentioned, I'll chime in with some "me too's" to
potentially validate my theory that there are a bunch of common musical
interests here. These are bands that I didn't mention in my original
list of 5.

Mentioned by Jason and Dave "The Bossman" Bossman:

- Art Of Noise (saw them in concert 2 years ago)
- Tears For Fears
- Depech Mode (seen 3 times)
- Go West (I used to also run Go West Digest from 1995-2001 :)
- Brothers Johnson (recommended by folks on the Level 42 Digest)
- Erasure and also Yaz(oo)
- Duran Duran ("Rio" was the first cassette I ever owned. Are they not reuniting for a tour?)
- Incognito (the Cog)... originally recommended by folks on the Level 42 Digest, and I saw them once in NYC with other Digesters. Hmm... didn't I also used to run an Incognito Digest?

I'm dreading to make a '20' list myself, because I think it might be
different tomorrow. But as not to act flighty, I'll add the following
favorites to other groups that have already been mentioned (no particular
order):

- Steve Winwood/Traffic
- Chick Corea/Return To Forever
- Pet Shop Boys
- The The
- Talk Talk
- The Jam, Style Council & Paul Weller
- Thomas Dolby
- Miguel Migs (DJ)
- Mark Farina (DJ)

Didn't there used to be a website called Firefly that had a database of
musicians organized by similarity? The data for measuring similarity
came from lists of 'favorites' submitted by Internet users... sort of
similar to what we're doing here.

cheers,
Eric

Ok, I guess The Digest has been pretty thin lately, so here we go....  These days I listen to:

Steely Dan
The Beatles
Alanis Morrisette
John Mayer
George Benson
Chet Atkins

One question, Eric:  Do you actually listen to Time McGraw?  What the hell is up with that?  Your wife makes you listen, right?  I mean, George Strait I can understand, but Tim friggin' McGraw???

Z.
