Jeff, I didn't know you liked The The - Dirt Cheap CDs
in Pitt Street (near the mall) have all their albums,
nicely repackaged, for $10 each. And I still listen to
the Gil Scott Heron you burnt me - niiice.

Fatboymike, you said 'obviously 'to FatBoySlim - are
you from Brighton? I am ... left there 16 years ago
for Oz. But Bjork? I think it's no accident that her
name sounds like my reaction to her music. My 15yo boy
is into Dave Mathews Band - know anywhere I can get
Busted Stuff for him? It's fifty bastard dollars here
in Sydney, on import only.

I've been thinking about 10 CDs I'd have on a desert
island (yep, that old chestnut) but will omit L42 as
too obvious: Sex Pistols (Never Mind The Bollocks);
Paul Weller (Paul Weller); Dire Straits (Making
Movies); Me'Shell (Peace Beyond Passion); ABC (Lexicon
of Love); Wear It's 'At (Rubettes); REM (Automatic For
The People); Annie Lennox (Medusa); Fashion
(Fabrique); Go West (Dancing On The Couch). This list
will change tomorrow, probably with a touch of Cat
Stevens, Queen, Deacon Blue or Japan.

Guys, you've submitted some fab lists and I've enjoyed
looking through them. I loved yours, Win. Loz, have
you done yours this time around?

Cheers ~ Mike (Sydney City Milkman)

Well here goes on the BANDwagon...
And in no (kind of) particular order....

1) Level 42 / MK
2) James Taylor Quartet (JTQ) - UK Acid Jazz group, well worth a listen if you've never heard of them before......
3) Crowded House - oh how I wish they were still together.... / Neil Finn and not forgetting Tim Finn (who had a couple of albums)
4) Manic Street Preachers........(not their early stuff!!!!!!)
5) Lemon Jelly - Different / Cool / MAD!!!!!!!!! - and nominated for a Mercury Music Award in the UK
6) Sting / Police
7) JJ Johnson (Jazz trombonist) including his recordings with Kai Winding / Bennie Green / Stan Getz.......
8) Christian Lindberg - (Classical Trombonist!!!!!) - notice a theme here!!!!!!! The most amazing trombonist ever!!!!!
9) Stereophonics
10) Genesis....... Wembley 86........ memories...................
11) Dire Straits - first Band I saw live.........
12) Go West / Peter Cox.....
13) Simple Minds - still going ........... on tour in the UK this Autumn....... Gonna see them....... New 'missing' album out this week..
14) Queen
15) Deacon Blue - saw them last year - as good as ever............ 'Dignity' superb........
16) Brand New Heavies
17) Eric Clapton...
18) Jamiroquai... The guy with the hat......... Check out Stuart Zender (Bass)
19) Living in a box / Richard Darbyshire - superb solo stuff......
20) Corduroy - UK acid Jazz band........ sadly no longer together......

But there are many others who at this moment in time don't, but could be in my 20, they include: Billy Joel, Danny Wilson (80's UK band - hits with Mary's Prayer etc - the lead singer Gary Clark had a superb solo album a few years ago called Ten Short Songs About Love, Rick Wakeman - saw him live recently with his English Rock Ensemble - superb musicians!!!, Jazzanova, Dennis Rollins' Bad Bone, The Thrills, James Brown, Incognito, Pink Floyd, Madness and sometimes even Jean-Michel Jarre.............

PS who saw Alan Partridge the other night (not a fan) but he said something like 'what and where are we eating?' then said 'The Chinese Way, on Level 42 ah ah ah'  sorry but I'm sure if you saw it you would know what I mean

Oops, sorry!  Time for me to put down the crack pipe....

I sort of agree with Mikey here, at least in part.  I don't agree that Level 42's music wouldn't translate well to unplugged versions--talented musicians can make any kind of music translate, and our lads have both the talent and lots of tunes that would be great for it.

But, if the band were granting fans' requests, I'd much rather ask them to do a set-list of our choosing (like they did in 2001) than an acoustic set of the hits.  To me, those shows were the best I could possibly ask for, and my dying wish would be to have one more tour in which the true believers get to pick the songs!  (And please don't suggest an acoustic set of songs chosen by fans--if we were lucky enough to hear those songs live again, I'd want to hear them right!)

Cheers - Don Z.
